Hello all you rucksters, i have an 07 nps50s, im 6'0 and about 270, i get 40mph in the wind and hit my rev limiter at 43 to 45mph. I'm interested in getting more acceleration without giving up top speed. anyone got any words of wisdom for me? After reading a lot of the posts on this site ( this is THE ruckus site btw, love all the info i got so far) i have been hesitant to do any mods for fear of rejetting. And with my current performance compared to the reports from other rucksters with older models im thinking only a big bore kit will do anything for me. well any idea or thoughts from you all would rock. For us big guys, yes i think only a big bore will make anydiference and

Installing a big bore with a HO cam is a good idea, i am not a great fan of the big carb, as i think the stock flows plenty, you will need to rejet and adjust the idle mixture, a CDI is also a good idea, the stock variator with the weight from the Metropolitan/scoopy is also a cheap way to take advantage of the extra power

The ruckus as most scooters have the engine bolted to the variator and the rear end, making it a one piece unit called the swing arm, the top of the engine is bolted to a structure called the craddle wich attaches to the frame, by replacing this craddle, you can increase the wheelbase of the scooter very easily, with the only concern being installing a longer rear brake cable and rerouting the wiring harness. A fellow member (Varroa) came with a simpler solution involving a frame spacer, which is in my opinion a better and easier way to do it

hey Chanito..sorry if this has been posted in this thread already but it was too much to read lol..i'm going to get a variator, but I am heavy (250 lbs) the KN is thought to be the best for heavy guys right? only other mods I ould do is CDI, and intake..and I should use a heavier weight (7 grams?) it is an 05 ruck if that matters any..
thanks Chanito..

You got it right, my only comment is that the CDI does not do a thing for us heavy guys

thanks Chanito..yeah the CDI only helps with the rev limiter and advancing the timing right? I just meant that it and the air intake are the only things I would do to the ruck..not going to do BB kit or anything like that..probably lol..

I'm not even sure that all CDI's advance the timing. Some don't seem like much more than a redline eliminator.

at what RPMs does the PCV valve open and close?
i tried searching, but the search doesn't let me search for "PCV", as it only has 3 letters; need 4 or more.

I think it's pretty low...like 3 or 4K RPM. I think the idea is that it's open all the time except at idle. I could be wrong though.

Chanito, I need some more rings and a head gasket. I can't contact you through your website, and this site is not letting me log on anymore. Could you please post your email adress so I can contact you?

Yeah, I even asked for my password in case I had a brain fart. I keep getting a "guest" status. Bummer. Maybe I'll just start anew. So, do you have these items available? I'm starting to burn oil, so I'm going to go ahead and overhaul it. I guess I'll need all the seals too. Can I re-use the ARP bolts?

I'd try to help you, but I can't do anything since I don't have admin status. And I don't have any parts, so many Chano'll read this, soon.

I don't know what's going on. The plug is great, but my oil level drops quickly, smells like a 2 stroke and there's a oily residue on the tailpipe. There's about 1000 miles on the piston. I was thinking in may just be the valve stem oil seals, but it doesn't puff smoke on start-up. The crank seal on the stator side is weeping, but not enough to explain my oil loss. I figured I'd just tear it down and do it over.

A broken intake valve seal will not smoke on start up, but maybe the rings did not seat right, and you might need to hone the cylinder again, buy a cheap brake caliper hone and use a variable speed drill to hone it if that is the case
