Timber, I rode all through the winter in ontario last winter. It's not as bad as you'd think for grip because the Ruckus has all it's weight over the rear wheel so your back end is pretty loose but the front grips wells and everything follows from there. Things might not be as great now that I have Boppers though. I only went down once last winter and that was doing doughnuts the parking lot. Just dress up a lot and you'll have a blast. It's really cool to longer be power limited but rather be traction limited...riding on the edge is so much fun.
About jetting, the way it works is: colder air = contracts = denser air = more oxygen per volume = lean cuz you've got more oxygen but same gas. I'd suggest upping the jet one size once you're average daily max temp is about zero or less.

I ride all year round DD is right, the colder it gets the closer the molecules in the air get, so there is more of them in the same space, the carb still will flow the same amount of air and gas, but the gas has way more oxigen to burn so it will run lean , therefore you need to richen it by using a bigger jet ;D

i got another question Is it true that you get more power from the engine everytime after you fill up? today i filled the ruckus up to store it over the winter and after i filled ruckii up, he had a meaner growl and accelerated faster plus a higher overall top speed on the trip going home! or maybe its just my mind screwing up from the cold .....

It's the weight loss due to empty pockets. ;D

Gas deteriorates over time, so if you fill up your tank after a couple of months, yes you will feel a positive change, but if you refill after only a couple of weeks, no

I am with Kamino on that one. What is a game of shinny? Where i came from football is with a round ball you kick around, and hockey is with some sticks on grass, and you run around until your tongue hang out of the side of your mouth

Q.- So what is that thingamajig under the seat in the 2006 ruckus? A.- that is a solenoid valve and a reed valve for the new enclosed PCV system in the new ruckus, in the old ruckus any blow-by (mixture that goes pass the rings and end up in the crankcase) was suck from the valve cover (it is connected to the crankcase) and send to the air filter case to be burnt with the air going into the carburetor, it is not very efficient and allow gas to mix in with the oil if the rings are not that good, and some times it even allow oil fumes to be bunt by the engine, to cure that car manufacturers came with the close PCV system were some fresh air was send into the crankcase and was pressurized with a one way valve, call the pcv valve, this was a very low pressure system, but it makes for a very eficient method of blow by control, so it is still in use today, they adapted that to the ruckus, but since the ruckus is a single cyl engine metering that extra air flow through the carb at idle is a real challenge, so they put an electronically control valve (the solenoid valve) to close the system at idle (nice ehh!) and replace the maintenance requiring pcv valve with a maintenance free reed valve. Eliminating or reducing blow-by increases the efficiency of an engine as more of the mixture is use up to create power instead of just waltzing through the piston rings into the crankcase to be wasted and dilute the oil, so you could have your cake and eat it too

Channy-chan: Does removing the air pod mean the PVC is no longer an option? And it seems like something that could be retro-fitted, whadda you think? How about two, for extry efficieniation?
