I noticed lately that my rear brake lever was getting a bit low , so I looked for the adjuster and found the adjusting nut on the rear brake almost backed right off and ready to drop off ...yikes !!! I put it back on with some blue locktite. ;D

The nut is notched so it should not unscrew itself, probably yours was just out of adjusment, you should be able to screw the nut with your fingers and the return spring tension would prevent it from comming loose

Your brake lever should slowly get softer as the brake shoes wear down. Every month or so I like to give mine a 1/2 turn to keep it taught.

Kamino is right. I'm putting almost 700km/week (450miles??) on right now and will be until Christmas. I should be at 30,000km (18,000miles) by christmas so yeah I do wear the brakes down a bit faster than average. What I've learned is that at 20,000km (12,000 miles) my front brake shoes were about 1/2 done and the rear ones maybe 1/3 done. However, Wainair just gave me new rims (mine were warped), fork legs (mine were rusty/sucked), front cables and the front brake off his Ruckus all for a case of beer. What a good guy...(he got the Dio kit). His brake shoes were almost new so I've got a lot of miles to go now before I need to replace them. I think under normal conditions the front shoes might last 35,000km (20,000 miles) and the rears could go 50,000km (30,000miles) so don't be too worried about yours wearing out. Even if you rode hard all the time in constant stop and go traffic I doubt you could wear them out in less than 10,000 miles. Hey do you guys think the aftermarket brake shoes at: wayne.visualloft.com/scooter/p_brake.phpbite in harder than the stockers? There probably isn't much of a difference but you never know. They don't likely cost much more than stock replacements cuz they are 16.50$ US per wheel.

We used to have a beer of the week update from CTruckus but he hasn't been around in some time. Something about buying a wine store. My prefered mass produced beer would be Labbatt.

The small brews we get in BC are pretty delicious . You never really appreciate having no extra sugar and preservatives in beer until you do a keg party of molson or coors and wake up with a dry mouth and a pounding headache. Gransville Island brewery had a winter ale with a strong chocolate flavour (!) but it sold out three months ago. Dang, it was tasty.

Sleemans what? Anything? I'm a big Waterloo Dark (made by Brick Breweries) fan.
