im getting an '08 honda ruckus but the 40 mph top speed wont be enough.....what mods could i put on it that would increase the top speed i need (at least 45 mph). oh and i weigh 138 lbs give or take one or two pounds so loosing weight isnt much of an option.......and where i live (florida) 49cc is the max displacement i can have without having to get a motorcycle license so the big bore kit might not be a good idea.....unless anyone can suggest how i dont get caught by the police thanks for any help

08 stock goes up to 43mph...especially if you are 138. A variator is all you need to bump it up to 45. After that, if you want more oomph, you can change the the airbox to an intake and jet the carb.

I hope you aren't confusing top speed with cruising speed.
But as light as you are, probably a variator and a windsheild would go a long way. And if you're planning on staying on the road, some better rolling tires, like Boppers.

yea i justed wanted some more speed since i live a large spaced out city and the extra speed is nice when dealing with jerks on ur tail all the time, luckily i wont be driving to far only like 20 miles tops the only thing i wanted the speed for is bridges were u gotta cruise some what faster than usual

With as light as you are, you might be able to get away with met gears if you get a windscreen and street tires. It all depend on how much time and/or money you want to put into it.

Hehe... mine is only 49cc... at least thats what the engine case says... If you go BB there will be no way of telling unless you pop the motor out and measure it... something no cop is going to do.. now if you have 30 MPH top speed laws that might be more of an issue... But yeah.. variator should be all your scrawny tail needs to get to 45 MPH

My speedo on my 08 must be off a little then. I am 235 and it can hit the 45 mark dead on on a straight. It's not a little to the left, but dead on.

Or maybe your Ruckus is special.

On a hill, Lucy hits 45mph and then smacks into the rev limiter.

Dunno about the newer bikes but my 06 Met did have a plate restricting flow slightly between the intake manifold & the head which I've removed and as far as exhausts go the Racing Project Murashima gave me an extra 2-3mph even though everyone says you won't get any gains from an exhaust on a 4-stroke bike.

The Met is the only bike with this.

Hey, I wish my Ruckus went 45. I'm lucky to hit 40, now.

I put a Polini on it tonight with all yellow weights and it seems to go to the light so about 47 or so, it was down a long grade but stayed around 45 after it flattened out. Def. accelerates faster now as well. Seems to top out more, just takes longer.

That polini's what gets my 04 to 40. I got metro weights in mine.

hey i'm new here. i have an 08 ruckus and i hit 45mph consistantly unless im going into the wind or uphill, but even then im usually around 40mph. i weigh 270lbs and from reading forumns most of the ruckuses dont seem to go that fast. does the 08 have more power?

Didn't you realize that when you bought it? The pre-06's are slower than the 06+ models.
