So it should be here next week, it's a 1999 Italjet Formula 50 LC Water cooled 2-stroke with a 70cc kit and a 21mm Malossi carb to start. This bike is NOT slow! We'll see how I do when it comes to the world of 2-stroke tuning, I got 1mph per cc out of a Ruckus, and I think this already does past that. I'm taking it to Denver for some custom graphics work, we're going to try to make it look like a 1098s Tricolore. From there I think I'm just going to ride it since parts aren't nearly as easy to come by. KP

I get cracked up over how tiny the Ruckus looks next to other scoots.

Him....the RuckusTuner posse just got a new 'scoot' too....wanna race Ok, I'll race you for pinks. Here are the rules, each rider has to go WOT for as long as possible, first person to back off loses. Oh and this is going to be in the city.

Hmm....we might need to chat a little more about those rules. Or maybe I'll just toss one of my skateboard wheels on the back.

Like some cruel joke, the new bike is supposed to be here today and I have about 100 mile epic ride planned, and it's raining. Ugg.. Oh well, supposed to be nice in 2 days, guess I'll tear it down to the frame and put it back together, typical new bike fashion for me

....or I could just refuse to shift. Redline in first gear is probably 25km/hr.

Got my bike today, this thing flies!! Or I should say flew. Around 1/2 way through my day it started acting up, very strange. I'm assuming it's tuning, but I won't know until I try some more ideas tomorrow.
I'll post pics, a mods list, and some results soon.
For now it cruises around 55 mph and I saw 60 a few times until it started acting up.

Ok, so we think we figured it out. Turns out the moron who was riding this thing put a '6' plug in it. Stock is '8' and with the mods it needs a '9'. When I got a new plug today I put in what it called for which was a '5'. SO.... at high RPM the weaker, hotter spark is being blown out by the compression, fits the issue to a 'T'. So I'm going to go get some of the right plug in the morning and see if it fixes it. After that I just have to go through the drive line and clean and inspect and replace one rad hose that I'm not too happy with. So far it's a great bike. No helmet storage, or hook is a bit lame, and it's TALL, plus with the super rear shock on there the tire hits the ground on the stand. It came with Boppers and at almost 4,000kms the rear is about done. I hate the look of these tires but they do handle well, and are quiet. Mods: Malossi 70cc kit Malossi 21mm slide carb Malossi compression spring (and I expect, var, belt, etc.) Rear Shock and that's all I can think of. I'll post pics soon.

Good luck sorting out the issue....making things faster is always more fun than fixing things.

Here are some pictures: www.thepiz.com/Scooters/ItaljetFormula50LC/index.htmlAnd a word of advice, don't buy Italian scooters. What a pile. I'm so sick of this thing right now. First person with $2k gets it. On top of all the other issues, the brakes are shot, no biggie ordered new pads. But it WILL NOT run right. Past 1/2 throttle it's junk, 1/4 turn to 3 turns out doesn't change it. I can either run an air filter or a fender, not both. Then to make me even happier it decided to pour coolant all over my foot on the way home from a 2 mile ride. Makes me appreciate my Hondas way more!

The thing that irks me the most is that I asked about all this BEFORE I got the bike and I got a bunch of, "Oh yeah, it's fine" and then it gets here with WAY more body damage than I thought, a blown coolant line, shot brakes, won't run, bald rear tire, etc. etc. Sucks too because it's still a good deal and I really like the guy, but I do feel like I got run over on this one.

sucks to hear that but im sure you'll make it run perfect again. Nothing beats the satisfaction of fixing a bike man! When i got my Piaggio to run I was the happiest guy on earth. Good luck brother,
