Oh, and notice how the lowered ones are parked on damp grass and gravel yet they are staying up fine.

I think that razor thing looks rather dangerous.

There are lots of kickstand on eBay, but after hearing this it sounds like I'll be buying one. When I first got the Rux I couldn't get it on the center stand, then I learned the technique. So I don't really need a kickstand, it just looks cool. What was yout total cost having it made? The used kickstand cost $15 from the salvage shop. 2 hours of my time and tool use, plus $5 for the fabricator. So $20 in total, my time is free because it's fun to modify parts

"...you don't want to be tugging your scooter up on to the center stand when you could seductively slide off the seat, finesse your helmet off with a twirl of your long hair and then kick your lowered kickstand out so your Ruckus is tilted over gangsta style." -Dandy Dan
I'm sold!

Kickstand before... salvaged from an 82 Yamaha Virago 920 Nevermind, I found the answer on the side. Was it easy to do? It's neat to see my very first post brought back to life. The kickstand mod was pretty easy, but you will need to do some cutting, grinding and finally go to a machine shop/ fabricators shop so he can PUNCH a hole in it, drilling that strong steel will not work. The hardest part is finding the kickstand, then you can take your time doing the minor work to make it work. Thanks for your question Motherruckas ! I found this on eBay:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4603139568 I have not got it yet. Looks like you drilled one hole in the frame brace to match the lower bracket hole and one hole in the bracket to match the frame? Is that a folding peg? I have a set of folding pegs. My 2006 Ruckus just arrived at the dealer this week. Going to look at it Thursday.

"Looks like you drilled one hole in the frame brace to match the lower bracket hole and one hole in the bracket to match the frame?"
You got it ! Yes that's what I did.
Take a hacksaw to that leg thing attached to the foot, then smack that switch mount off with a hammer, then use a grinder to clean up the weld left on it. Then go to a fabricator and ask them to punch a hole in it close to where the old switch mount was. That punched hole will line up with the BIG hole in the frame of your Ruckus.
Try to mount it as high on the Ruckus frame as possible (there isn't much leway, but try) because you want the most lean angle possible. Otherwise you risk it tipping over from a slight bump from a careless person or child. I mean tipping over onto the non-kickstand side since the Ruckus is a very light, low center of gravity machine, unlike a real motorcycle.
My pegs are not folding, they are short old-school bmx pegs.
Take your time and triple check your work before cutting/drilling. You are a fabricator!
Good Luck !

Spent 34 years in a machine shop 3 years on machines the rest as a Supervisor. Don't think I'll have a problem. Thanks, I'll let you know how it comes out.

Using a kickstand from the wreckers is a fine way of getting one and it is way cheaper but I do gotta say that the Ruckus specific ones from the Battlescooter store are worth the money. They are very well designed, tilt your bike over at the perfect angle so it's very stable (especially the lowered one), and feel very strong and well built. The only thing mediocre about them is the paint job which is fine but if you look closely you can see some flaws.

Zoomerman, are you using MTB bars on your Ruckus? I'm trying to convert to aftermarket bars and my current idea is to get a 1" steerer tube star/fangle nut which I can ram into our 7/8" steerer. Them I'm going to make a shim to fit a regular 1 1/8" stem onto our 7/8 steerer and then lastly I get a top cap for the stem and bolt it into the starnut.
The reason I ask if you are using MTB bars is because I'm not sure if our throttle and brake units will fit onto mtb bars...I'm not sure if the diameter is the same. If they don't fit then I'll either need to shim motorcycle bars in or go with the BSS clamp.

But I got to ask, why did you hacksaw "that leg thing" off that is at the foot? There is a lot of "cool" factur in that thing. Obviously that tells you that I left mine on.

You will need to file/drill off the nubs inside the levers. The levers have nubs to fit into holes on the stock Ruckus bars. The star fangle nut is not important, it's just used as a helper on MTBs, after the side bolts are tight you can run without that top cap. My top cap and bolt are siliconed in place just to look good.

I figured that leg thing would be sticking out trying to shin me and I thought it would give my Ruck an 80's heavy bike look. I'm trying for a light and fast look. I am interested in seeing your kickstand installed, could you post some pic's ?

You cut the foot off your kickstand? I how does that hold up in gravel/grass on hot days on pavement?

Nope, I cut the leg thing off, that was attached to the foot. The leg thing is there to make it easier to swing the kickstand down.
