Hi everybody ! I'm new here, well I've been viewing the site for a while, so now I've jumped in. I love my ruckus and I've made many cheap or free modifications to make it more comfortable and different from the crowd. 13 changes in all. I have pictures posted on WebShots, have a look if you want. ;D community.webshots.com/user/longjohnson

GREAT pictures! Ok - I looked pretty hard at those - can you help out these old eyes of mine and point out all of your changes?! I like what you have done - I just do not want to miss anything.

I’m glad you like it. There are 13 changes in all so far, most of them minor. First the seat was raised at the front and dropped in the back, then the handlebars were cut down an inch and a half on each side, one mirror removed, painted the radiator grill and painted the coolant overflow bottle. The rear reflector was lowered and it’s bracket removed. The front orange side reflectors were moved to the front fender and the turn signals were put in their place. Under the seat was filled in, kickstand installed and foot pegs added. Finally the horn was moved to its “made to be” location, under the front plastic behind the horn slots. I'm really happy with all the changes and I'm glad I didn't get a "normal" scooter that would have been difficult to modify. I would love to see pictures of everyone's Ruckuses! Post them ! ............ .........

Agree totally, though I think of them as cheap bastard mod's, or redneck mods. I did the same thing to my VW Rabbit GTI, I made a bunch of changes, none of them cost much or anything. I lowered it with spring compressors on the front and cut the rear springs. I removed the bumpers, antenaa, and side mirrors. Added a big chrome exhaust tip, found on the road, and then drilled several holes in the back of the muffler for that special "tuner" sound. If ever I wanted the muffler quiet again I just put silicone over the holes and it shut right up. ;D good times...

You can call them teenager mods. I made a spoiler out of roof flashing on my first car, didn't last long

Kickstand before... salvaged from an 82 Yamaha Virago 920
Nevermind, I found the answer on the side. Was it easy to do?

Ok, now I know (a Taxi). So he rearended you? Taxi drivers here (in the city 30 miles away, not where I live) are crazy impatient maniacs. I watched a jogger get ran over by a cab making an illegal maneuver.

Kickstand before... salvaged from an 82 Yamaha Virago 920 Nevermind, I found the answer on the side. Was it easy to do? It's neat to see my very first post brought back to life. The kickstand mod was pretty easy, but you will need to do some cutting, grinding and finally go to a machine shop/ fabricators shop so he can PUNCH a hole in it, drilling that strong steel will not work. The hardest part is finding the kickstand, then you can take your time doing the minor work to make it work. Thanks for your question Motherruckas !

I've always wanted a kickstand. I searched at a couple junk yards to find a donor but I couldn't find anything nice so a week or two ago I order one from the BSS. It's a lot of $$$ (74$) but it will fit really sweet and it's a lot less work.

There are lots of kickstand on eBay, but after hearing this it sounds like I'll be buying one. When I first got the Rux I couldn't get it on the center stand, then I learned the technique. So I don't really need a kickstand, it just looks cool.
What was yout total cost having it made?

Actually you do need a kickstand. If you are 1/2 as cool as your avatar suggests you are then you don't want to be tugging your scooter up on to the center stand when you could seductively slide off the seat, finesse your helmet off with a twirl of your long hair and then kick your lowered kickstand out so your Ruckus is tilted over gangsta style. I debated between modifying one or just buying the right one and I ended up buying the lowered BSS one because it fits on so cleanly and gives it such a sweet lean if you get the lowered model. Check it: (regular vs. leaned over)
