???Just purchased used a 2004 ruckus with 495 miles. Everything works great except the electric start. I put a brand new battery in it from the Honda dealer. I hear a click when I push the button...but no start. Kick starts fine. Please help Thanks.

When the battery doesn't have enough juice to start the engine you'll hear a clicking sound. But it's a bunch of clicks. This problem is very likely either a bad connection to the battery (remove plastic battery box cover and tighten bolts) or a dead battery.

I installed a brand new battery. Key is on. Kill switch is in the start position and I've tried holding both brakes at the same time and separately. I hear just one click each time I push the button. It comes from one of the black relays near the battery. Thanks.

Okay it sounds like you're doing things right then....does your tail light light up with you turn the key on? If you have a proper connection to the battery then it should.
The next thing you should check is probably the fuses....I've blown a couple. They are on top of the battery.

The brake light works. I checked the fuses and they are all good. Do you think maybe the starter is bad. Is it a starter or is it some other type of mechanism? Thanks for the help.

Honestly, electrical stuff is my weakest area....I'm just learning the basics myself and starting to wire simple stuff. If you bought this Ruckus from a Honda dealer then I'd go back there and complain and they might hook you up with a new starter or atleast diagnose the problem for you.
There are others on here who know more about electrical stuff then me so if you can hang on, hopefully one of them will respond soon.

It does sound like a faulty relay, get a voltmeter (you can get a cheap digital one at Radio Shack) and tomorrow i will post a how-to on checking the starter relay ;D

???Well.....I replaced what I think is the starter relay. It did not fix the problem. I guess i should ask the dealer which one the starter relay is....duh!!! Would anyone know which one it is? There is a blue relay right on the fuse block....what is that one for? That is the relay that makes the clicking noise. I replaced the round relay that hooks to the side of the battery via a rubber mount. Thanks for all of the help guys.

It's all Chinese to me...sorry. If you have the service manual there is a good wiring diagram in the back. If you don't, I recommend getting one because they're awesome. A dummy could rebuild their own engine with that manual.
