You put oil on it but I think it's more of a mist it on technique you want to use rather than a dunk it a bucket of oil technique. You could try getting some grease on a rag and then wiping the filter down or just dunking the filter and then wiping it pretty dry. I've never personally done this but I will soon as mine is in the mail. I think the idea is to get enough so that the dust sticks but not so much that it blocks the airflow.
Make sure you still use most/all of the stock main tube that goes from the carb to the airbox because this helps filter out pulses and irregularities in the airflow which really hurt our CV type carbs. You filter has a clamp that should give you a pretty tight clamp but considering using some marine glue to seal it for sure as that will last in the elements. It's what Honda uses stock to seal that main tube to the back of the airbox.
As for hose relocation, I don't know off the top of my head and I don't want to do the research. I'd suggest just following the install instructions on battlescooter.com and if you get stumped take a picture and post it on here.
The battlescooter Pod filter does come with a few more parts than you've got including a similar but much smaller filter and kind of a 'T' shaped hose joiner. I think you can work around some of this by simply not giving some parts filtered air and just letting them breathe straight up but I'm not really qualified to say which ones you can do this for.

Anybody know which hoses need the filtered air, from what i gathered on the battlescoot install page, theres just 2. What does the install book for the pod filter look like, because i see hadoq has a similar looking filter, and he has 2 of the hoses just running out onto the variator casing. I prolly wont start this project till Dec 10 or so, but wanna know where im going with it before i get started

???The least amount of hoses that need filtedred air is two, #5 is a must is the fresh air for the carburetor, and the #4 is the one hose that pick-up the gases from the crankcase to be burnt so you have to hook it up, is not good for the enviroment is you just let them vent to the atmosphere, and some times it can suck instead of blow and it will suck dirty air straight into the crankcase where it could do some damage, so you need to fabricate someway to get them filtered air. The #2 and #3 are hoses for the pair system they are use to feed a small filter which is independant of the air filter in case the reed valve in the pair leaks, you can block the pair valve or just get a PCV filter for an American car and attach it it instead of hose #3

Just so you know...the Par system lets fresh air into the exhaust gases in order to keep the burning going and thus burn up the remaining hydrocarbons. It actually helps with the emissions quite a bit so consider helping out the environment sometime if you can scrap up the 5$ for the other smaller filter. A stock Ruckus already has higher emissions that most cars.
I had my Ruckus emission tested and it wasn't even close to passing. I have modified it though so it wouldn't be as good as stock but it was still about 10x what a new, efficient car (ie. Civic) would be.

Got time to take a pic and I can look it up for you in the service manual and make a recomondation. I need to see what it is hooked to besides the air box.
