Today I'm relocating front turn signals to the japanese location (where we have the refectors). I drilled out the new holes, grinded off the old brackets and I'm currently between coats of paint. Anyways....A while back someone mentioned that they moved the horn inside the front cover. I always thought that would look better since you'd have a cleaner look and they even have slats for the horn but figured it was a lot of work. Turns out there's already a mounting point right were you need it (do Japanese Zoomers come with the horn concealed?) so you just need to unbolt the horn from the front, use the same bolt to screw it in under there and reroute a bit of wire. It's a 10min job. I'm taking things the extra step and I've grinded off the horn bracket but you wouldn't have to. I just thought I'd let you guys know how simple this really is in case anyone is interested.

true dandydan, moving the horn is so easy, looks cleaner and it surely doesn’t change the bloody sound. I left the bracket on for now, maybe a support for an extended front rack, or a mini 3rd light. or both just in case I need it for the paris / dakar. cheers von

The reason its on the outside is because of Department of Transportation regulations. It is originally ment to be mounted inside.

I took off the turn signals in an attempt to move them and realized that I need to drill. What size drill bit do I need? My drill didn't come with that big of a bit. So I need to buy one....

nevermind...got it......the size is a 3/8 drill bit. You just need to compensate for the threads a bit, just enough that it can jiggle around when the bit is in the hole

I just replaced the stock horn with an old car horn. I wont be able to carry anything on the front rack but DAMN it is LOUD!
Im' thinking of geting one of those AoooGA horns.

I found a horn like that (oooggga) for sale in a local paper of mine. It ran on 12v. and I think the guy wanted $70. I was looking into it for my motorcycle.

You can get them at Pep Boys for $30 but the horn is red plastic, I guess I can paint it but if im gona shell out that kind'a cash i'm gona get just what I want.

Yeah, this was no Pep Boy special, this was an authentic antique. I had no clue they still made them though...hmm...weird.

while you had all of that stuff off, you should have moved the signals, too. I should've posted a tech of that. That's real easy. You just need a drill...

You know I was real tempted to move them, but I decided I would save that one for next weekend, plus it will give me a chance to go to HomeDespot and look for things that may come in handy. Did you guys use anything to prevent rust from occuring where you drilled?

I used touch up paint. But, in all logic, you could just use Rustoleum. It's such a small area.

im going to have to get some new lights these things are to big and i have to move the horn its out in the open and is an eye sore

I moved the horn - like the way it looks now.
Could someone please post more detailed instructions on how to move the front turn signals to the front reflector mounts? For example, I noticed that the wires to the signals go through the nuts - how did you get the signal out of/through the bracket hole? Or am I just being dense?

If you take off the front cover you can just unplug with wires. It's not hard to see. You'll need to unplug em and take off the reflectors, then drill out the reflector holes and then re-route the wires and tighten the bolt back on. It's a 20min job.

Excellent. I thought that might be the case, but I didn't notice while I was moving the horn. Maybe that is because I spent so much *&%$##*! time figuring out what to do with that little metal bracket that goes on the bottom of the front cover.

Yeah that metal thing is a major pain. The first time I removed it, it fell way down and I didn't even notice it was off for a couple weeks. It's a confusing piece and the first time you play with it will take a bit. Now I know exactly where it goes and it still takes me 5min to get it positioned right and the screws in.
The wires kinda have a female/male interface that you kinda gotta ram in there. It's kinda awkward and you gotta be a bit nimble but it's not too bad. Most importantly make sure you get them in all the way or you're turn signal will be intermittant.
