Saw a neat item at Canadian Tire today. I think it is marketed by Quaker State, but couldn't find it on their website. It screws in to replace the oil drain plug. It is threaded at the other end. As soon as you thread the tube on it opens a one way check valve and allows the oil to drain out through the tube into a bottle or other container. No spillage. Remove the tube and there is a cap that threads on. There is a Metric version and an SAE version. Does anyone know what the Metric Thread Size is on the Ruckus Drain Plug?
I neglected to write down the part number of the item. All the metal parts are of Brass. The cap screws on by hand. I hope I can get one to fit. I know that my last 2 cars required a 17 MM wrench to remove the drain plug. Is the Ruckus plug a Standard Metric one which will also fit cars?

That sounds like a good thing... since there isn't enough room under the Ruckus to fit our oilpan under it...
Still, I drink a lot of milk, so it's not like I'm hurting for gallon jugs to cut in half...

Yeah but this is a pipeline direct from the engine to the milkjug. No tools, no crush washer to worry about changing, just unscrew the cap, thread in the hose (already in milk jug), remove hose when empty and replace cap. Hard to spill oil.

Spoonkiller was researching these a few weeks back....there were quite a few metric sizes and I think he bought the wrong one but there should be one that fits. As soon as someone Guinea pigs this then we'll all own one.

It looks cool, no changing crush washers. Next oil change I would like to torque one in with a new washer and forget about it. You could empty the oil into a 2 liter pop bottle.

;D The ruckus drain bolt is 12 x 1.50 mm, let us know how you like it ;D sound like a good idea, as in my opinion the correct oil change interval should be 100 kilometers or 600 miles and overtightening the case threads is way easy

The SD-3 is M-12 x 1.25. The SD-4 is M-12 x 1.75.
You may have to use the longer one and puy an extra washer or 2 in to make up the difference.
I don't know if the M-12 will work being 0.25mm short. Probably will.
You could also cut and file a bit off the SD-4.
Once it is installed that is the end of torquing the plug into Aluminum alloy threads and having to change crush washers,

Supposedly, FRAM SureDrain bolts have been discontinued but these are the sizes they made: SD1 = 1/2 x 20 SD2 = 14mm x 1.50 SD3 = 12mm x 1.25 SD4 = 12mm x 1.75 SD5 = 18mm X 1.50 I think the last number (1.25 or 1.75) is the courseness of the threads, not the length of the bolt. If Chanito is correct that we need a 12mm x 1.50mm then neither the SD3 or SD4 will work without severely damaging our threads. Spoonkiller already tried the SD-3 (12mm x 1.25mm) and it didn't fit and I know someone else who verified that our bolt is indeed a 12mm x 1.50mm so it appears there are no FRAM Suredrain bolts that will fit. However, another company does make a similar product and they do make it in a 12mm x 1.50mm size: www.fumotovalve.comThey make 2 versions of the drain bolts....one type lets you attach a hose and the other doesn't. It's about $25 for the bolt plus shipping ($4 US, $6 to Canada).

;D Yes DD is correct 1,5 is the pitch of the bolt (the distance in mm from peak to peak) so neither 12x1.25 nor 12x 1.75 will work

Why not just buy the Fumoto one at their website for $22.95 plus $6 shipping?

I am not crazy about mail order and I hate having anything to do with Canada Customs.

I messaged an eBay seller to see what he could do it for. I may end up ordering one of these just to have it because I have everything else?

Sweet! Half-Pint is at 500km now, so at my next oil change, I'm putting in a F109N (and I'll use a torque wrench this time, I swear!).

I have just emailed the company about getting one as well. I really want to not keep cranking the drain bolt in and out of those Aluminum threads. (Although there may be a thread insert) Anyway, should be here before my next oil change. At 2,000 km or so I am switching to Synthetic. I am just under 1,700. This will be my 3rd oil change, one change at 600 one at 1,300.
