i've been wondering about these c4u springs for the clutch on battlescooter...how good do they work,,,and would it be alright to put on a stock 03 ruckus with only a speed variator in it.

if you are talking about the clutchspring that IHAR has, he said its better than variator mod, which should mean it is REALLY good

They do give you a harder launch but they also wear the belt faster, i guess is a matter of priorities

The Ruckus doesn't make much power until around 6000 RPM but the clutch engages around 3800 RPM which is partly why it sucks so much off the line. If you raise the launch RPM higher (via stiffer springs) you definately add some stress to the driveunit so I wouldn't want to raise it too much higher but if you could get it closer to 5000 RPM it might launch better with little negative side effects. However, you really need a tach if you're going to mess around with a bunch of springs. If you don't have one then I'd hold off on ordering springs until someone pipes up with some hard numbers on what the launch RPM is for each setup.

I put the stiffest ones in (blue me thinks) and it is awesome!!!!!!!
Def. worth the money....Launch is great, the most worthwhile mod since the CDI.

If these springs were available sooner I wouldn't have done a variator. I run the stock variator on my 03 and these springs. I have seen no signs of wear or stress on any parts. If you are a huge guy (or gal) you might get some clutch dust but that's about it. I install these on all my customers bikes and they wonder why Honda didn't do this from the factory. Of all the parts out there for the Ruckus these are by far the best value and have the most noticeable effect. I'm sure Jason gets them from Home Depot or something but I keep buying them up because I love them. I've purchased about 5 sets.

Do you rock the blue ones IHAR? It seems like these springs would really help your launches off the line because the engine would be able to rev up into the power band before the clutch engages instead of engaging at a measly 3500RPM stock when we don't make any power until about 6000-7000 RPM. I don't see how they'd really help above 15mph or so though so a variator still seems useful for taller top end gearing.
What RPM do these engage at?

I don't see any difference in top speed or accel on my 03 with the Daytona var vs. stock. I'm sure they do something, but not as much as we all might think. I've seen a more dramatic difference with top speed vs. rpm based on spacer length. I posted a while back where they launch, I can't remember, having two modded bikes tends to blur things. I know they are worth every single penny though. Keith

I ordered some of these springs from Jason yesterday but he's looking into some fork legs options for me right now so if those are backordered it'll be a while before get these. Anyways, thanks for the info.

I have the blues on my stocker and with the scoot on the ground you start moving around 5,000-5,200 rpm's. I think they're great, the take off is so much quicker and I also would have to say they're by far the best bang for the buck!
