I'm curious. Has anyone other then me given serious thought to the idea of straping a supercharger to this already super little engine? Ignoring for now the problem of finding a blower that would be suitable for this, it doesn't seem like it would be all that hard to supercharge this thing. After a partial tear-down of the engine i came up with a few very possible ways to install a supercharger. I have heard a few "what ifs" about turbocharging, but nothing too positive came from them. What i am wondering is if i may be missing or overlooking anything important regarding supercharging this ultra engineered, high compression engine. I realize the carb would need to be adjusted to work with a supercharger, maybe drastically. Any ideas on how much boost would be effective, but not over-the-top or just plain stupid? I'm not looking for a fire-breather here, but i think a ruckus with a small supercharger, CDI, good variator, exhaust/intake would be a great little machine and still keep that "Ruckus feeling" only a ruckus owner knows. Also, slighty off the topic, has anyone experimented with the supercharger's little brother, ram air? I know the bike really isn't fast enough to produce a lot of boost through ram air, but on such a small and sensitive machine, a tiny change like that might make a big difference in the long run.

For a ram-air engine to work, you need to be going about 450mph I think.... but thats no prob for a Ruckus right ? As for a turbo, I think youd only need 2-5lbs of boost as its such a small engine. But conisidering you can get a 150cc scooter engine to fit the Ruckus frame, that seems like a much better solution to making the Ruckus faster.

I agree that an engine swap is by far the best way to get the ruckus to really get moving, but it's just not for me. I LOVE this little motor. I'm amazed by it evertime i look at it. It is part of the personality of the ruckus i fell in love with. It just wouldn't be the same without the 49cc powerplant^^ It's the whole little engine that could thing. As for the small engine = small boost, that's really not how it works. What i'm concerned with mostly is detonation with such a high compression engine. I just don't know if this carb can keep up the gas flow after hearing some of the jetting nightmare stories after just putting in a full open intake. I was mostly just curious if anyone has tried it yet. Maybe i'll have to just give it a try and let you guys know what happens.

Also.. would a CV type carb like this even function under any sort of boost?

Letting someone else who has more experience then both of us the definately the best way to go. Id hate to see you mess up somewhere along the way and blow up your motor.
On a CRF450 a guy a know wants to supercharge, he has to bascially scrap the stock engine except for the case and build up from there. Every single system and part needs to be replaced with parts made for higher stress and the cooling system needed to be rebuilt from scratch to make up for the higher heat the engine would be subjected to.
If you can handle doing all that (and cover the price to have everything custom made, since theres no market for supercharged and turbocharged Honda Ruckuses) then you can try to supercharge your Ruckus, but when you think about an engine swap is BY FAR the easier and cheaper way.

I would do it ;D Don't let people stop you. If you do turbocharge it I would send Battlescooter the first pictures If you can afford a turbo that small you can do it.
