Hello all, This summer I got a new 2022 Ruckus. I was using it a ton but I live in a pretty hilly area so I decided to do a few mods. Unfortunately since I live in a strata I idioctially did them all at once inside of my living room without testing. I threw in a rolling wrench CDI, NCY clutch and variator with a polini belt. Further I swapped the handlebars with something lower. When I brought it outside and went to start it, it would die when idling unless I gave it a ton of throttle (3-4000rpm). Further it would hold the throttle on its own or randomly pulsate. No matter what I did it would not idle without dying. Finally I reverted it entirely back to stock minus the handlebars. Reset the ECM. Seemingly worked for a little then ran into the same issue again. I took the throttle cable out and put it back in a little differently, now there is 0 play no matter what I do and instead the bike won't idle... but when it's given throttle it doesn't rev at all and instead dies immediately. I've tried adjusting the play but nothing seems to do anything. Is the fact the throttle cable is too long for the shorter handlebars an issue? Or am I just real dumb and missing something lol Its almost been a month of playing around and my strata isn't too happy with me. I just want to get it back together and rip around again

Hey thresh did you do ANYTHING else to the engine when installing the CDI? pull the carb, change the air filter, rejet the carb, new exhaust? If the answer is no, just pull the CDI back out and see if the issue goes away. If the answer is yes, make sure all your connections are done up correctly as an air leak can cause you issues. New breathing parts without a tune can also prove to be frustrating. With your new trans setup have you confirmed that the rear wheel can freewheel and there is no binding? If it can't freewheel that may be causing you some of your grief. Hope this gives you something to think about so that we can get you on your Strata's good side. Happy Rucking

Check valve shim clearances, your valves could have tightened up on you. My almost new ruckus that I bought already heavily modified with under 200 miles had super tight intake valve, I had to go from a 2.02 to a 1.90 which is alot, I went down one size on the exhaust, wouldn't run, die, had to have it on the battery charger cranking and cranking and trying to rev it to get it started and just bogging. I hope your cdi is not the problem, I ordered one as well... You can see my posts on my poor running ruckus for info on what was going on and what I did to fix it.
