Hi all. My ruckus bogs down when I try to accelerate. I've replaced the carb., spark plug, gas, fuel filter, reset the tcs? I've even disconnected the two electronic plugs on the carb to see how the scooter would perform. Made no differance. All vent lines are clear. Tested the fuel pump. Today I removed the air filter and started beautifully as always but still had bogging problem when accelerating to the point of almost stalling. So for the fun of it I disconnected the snorkel at the carb. It ran great??? what the#$%! Reconnect it bogs.???What gives! Anyone else experience this nonsense? Much appreciated.

Hey rumbis I have a couple of ideas for you. From what you just described you have a "rich" bog since when you removed the restriction the engine was happier, OR there is something in the intake system severely restricting airflow. My first thoughts are: 1) Your idle mixture screw is WAY off causing the mix to be stupid rich 2) You've accidentally ended up with a jet thats too large in your carb causing you to overfuel. A stock ruckus should be running a 35/75 jet setup with the idle mix screw about 2.5 turns out from seated. Those are the ideas I have right off of the top of my head, hope that it is just that easy!

Baizy Ruckster, Thank you for responding and the ideas. For sure the scooter is running rich. After replacing the carb I thought for sure the problem would go away. Before swapping carbs I replaced the jets. I will check the intake manifold before the carb. My latest theory is that the ECM is malfunctioning. I think the electronic enrichment valve is activated all the time. Making the mix rich all the time. I tested the plug connector at the carb when the key was in the off position and the lead was hot. This doesn't seem right to me. I also tested when the scooter was running the lead was hot the whole time. Remember this is a new carb with a new enrichment sensor on it. Is it Baizy or Baizy? My eyesight is not so good even with glasses. Thanks again. I'm getting ready to put it all back together and let it run rich.

Hey rumbis the enrichent valves in these rucks function in a similar to the thermostat in a car. Valve gets hot, it expands, changes liquid flow. On a Ruckus the wire should be cold until the engine has reached operating temp, then the wire should be hot and start to heat the enrichment valves wax core and close off the enrichment circuit. If it's always on then that's a non issue as you'll be running and driving by time the enrichment circuits closed off.

Baizy Ruckster, That makes sense. I closed off the idle needle valve, runs great without the snorkel attached. Not good when attached. I am stumped. I think I'm going to put the original carb back on. Thanks again for your feedback.

Status update. Same issues exist. I'm running without the snorkel and the scooter has good power and tops out at 39mph. Hoping no damage occurs.

Possible clog in gas line return. I will check this in the spring.
