Im thinking of doing the 58cc big bore upgrade. Lucky for me im a machinist at a ultra precision shop and will be able to do the boring myself during my breaks.
I think i will put in a h.o cam while im in there.
My question is will i be able to run with stock exhaust and carb? And is there anything else i should do at the same time?
Was considering met gears but not sure it will benefit me much.
Already have cdi, polini variator, daytona kevlar belt, and uni pod filter intake.
I will most likely go with a new exhaust in the future but am itching to get some more power in the engine first

As someone who has run the chanito 58cc kit with a stock exhaust and carb the answer is yes you can. If you find a supplier of headgaskets for them let me know as I'd love a spare!

While you're in there you might as well port the head and check the con rod and crank bearings for wear. Given the cost is so low you might as well replace the assembly for ultra long term reliability.

Like you said, with low cost it wouldnt hurt to buy one anyways

rage it should be fine at 2k as I've heard of stock rucks going 10,000 miles no problem with good maintenance. It's going to be worthwhile to inspect everything while its apart and not rush the install. Leave time to order new parts in too. As for met gears I have a spare set if you're interested. I liked them in my ruck. Running ruck gears for now while I sort out tuning for a new air filter setup.

A side note for you. In a head to head of my modified ruck vs a stock ruck with a heavy rider 250lb and a light rider 150lb. The light rider won on either bike. So the 58cc is great fun but not enough to make up for a rider that's 100lbs heavier, at least with the setup my ruck had at the time.

How much did the light rider win by on the modified ruck? Haha im right in between but the ruckus is helping motivate me to lose weight!
Also, ive never tinkered with something like i have been with this and im having lots of fun. More speed would be nice but im just having fun working on it and trying to learn a lot

The light rider zoomed on ahead with obviously better acceleration on both machines. The 58cc one wasn't perfectly dialed in at that point though, was still learning the ins and outs of carb needle shimming.

You can order the headgasket directly from Cometic, there are 2 types, single layer and dual layer. The one that came with my RaceFarm bolo kit was single layer (0.010"). Not sure of the part number. However the double layer (0.020") gasket part number is H2534SP2020S. I'm sure if you asked for the single layer they could easily dig it up for you.

That is fantastic news, thanks for letting me know with part numbers and all. When I get around to pulling it apart I will have to get one!
