Hi! I have a 2009 ruckus. Was having problems with it not running properly. Replaced spark plug, fuel filter, fuel pump and cleaned carb. Runs great now ... but only when I disconnect the vacuum hose from carb. When the hose is connected, the scooter does not want to pick up speed and goes even slower when I turn the throttle. Any suggestions? Can I just leave the vacuum hose off?

Any suggestions? Can I just leave the vacuum hose off? Hey Kbcaruso, a common thing when modding is to remove the stock intake and put an air filter on the side of the carb. So yes, it is ok to leave the hose disconnected assuming you place an air filter on the side of the carb, similar to the one included in the "TVR Intake Kit". I would suggest you plug the port in the intake manifold, assuming you are still using the stock airbox, or place a stopper in the hose as you do not want unfiltered air entering your engine. What you may have unintentionally diagnosed is a clogged air filter if it seems to run better once you've removed a hose that would suck air from the clean side of the airbox. In short, maybe check if you've got a dirty air filter.
