All,
I have a 2012 Ruckus with about 200 miles. It had been sitting for a while so I took it to a dealership. The dealership gave it a carb clean, fluid and filter replacement. It ran fine for a couple hours then would die when idling.
I have it at home now as that dealership is no longer getting any of my business. I pulled the carb out, everything looked clean except the slow jet. I sprayed out the main jet and replaced the slow jet with a new part I ordered online. I fire up the ruckus today and now it dies even faster.
What could be the cause of this? I can tap tap tap the throttle and get it to rev up and still ride. Still, I want it to start and idle easy. Can anyone help with this? From what I saw the two jets looked fine.
Thanks!

Same deal here. 2012 Ruckus bought for Wifey in 2013, has all of 55 miles on it. It was stored with ethanol gas, so I cleaned all that out, cleaned the carb with brake cleaner and compressed air and got it started and will idle, but won't rev up. Tore the carb down again and confirmed the main jet is clear, but the idle jet still had some crud in it (therefor it shouldn't have idled, but it did). Put it all back together and still won't rev up. Idles just fine. I think it might be the needle jet orifice, but that was cleaned out as well. My next step is to tear it all down again and boil the carb, hoping it it will boil out any residual gunk lodged somewhere. Mygawd this thing isn't even broken in yet!

If ever you run into idling issues what you can do is buy a d-nut socket for the Keihin Carb, or cut a slot in it, and play with the idle mixture screw. The carbs are pretty much set to a default setting that should work, but won't be perfect. Then as things break in and need a different tune you'll likely have to adjust the idle mix screw to get your perfect (or even sustained idle) back.
