My friend/mechanic said that he can increase the size of my 2015 Ruckus engine to 80cc by using all original Honda parts. My question is how this will effect reliability and duarability of the engine? Thank you for the response(s).

That depends on his technique of increasing bore size..to my knowledge the largest u can go with the stock head is 58.1cc due to the pathways cut into the motor for water cooling. Using all stock parts I haven't the faintest idea how it would be done.

sounds like he knows of another honda engine top that will bolt onto the ruckus bottom end. I know a guy with a yamaha c3 and he can swap the top out and go up to 70cc, and they sell kits for it. I've never heard of it possible with the ruckus, but with all the available engine options on the ruckus not many are still looking for new avenue all together.
Could you ask your friend which other engine he wants to use?
as far as reliable you would be guinea pig for that I think, I guess if the mechanic does his job well, and the ruckus bottom end can handle the increased rotational mass and strain.
sounds like fun, and I hope he is right. I would be tempted to let him try it if you trust his ability and small engine experience. Plus if you document it all and it works, put it online and you could start a whole new ruckus engine mod movement. It could be your legacy.
