Hello, new user of the forums and I need help. I've searched the boards and done all sorts of things to my ruckus but it still won't run right. my ruckus is a 2013 with 350 miles on it. it sat in a garage and was hardly used at all. It is basically brand new. All hoses and wiring seems to be in good shape and I've double checked them numerous times. I believe it is bone stock except for an aftermarket exhaust. It runs but does not drive well. I drained and cleaned the gas tank, pulled the carb apart dipped and cleaned it a few times now. have changed the fuel filter, spark plug, and installed a new fuel pump. All of this seemed to help a lot but it wasn't quite right. Then all of the sudden it got worse and now it will hardly go at all yet still starts and runs good on the stand. It acts like it is starving of fuel yet it is getting fuel. I'm kind of at a loss now on what to do to make this thing driveable. One thing that it has started to do more and more of is when I rev it up while on the stand it is starting to pop a little out of the exhaust... I'm at a total loss at this point and getting really frustrated. please help me!!!! lol I promise if I get some help and figure it out I will get back on here and say what fixed it..

Did it sit with gas in the tank and lines? If so, it also sat with gas in the engine. Plus, if you cranked it with old gas in the tank that might lead to some issues. First thing I would do is let the gas get low. Then add 2 caps of sea foam to the tank and then fill er up. Once done, I usually give the bike a lil shake to mix up. Set it on the center stand and idel for a bit then run it at half throttle to get the mix pumping through. It normally takes running it to half a tank before you notice a difference. Make sure you let it run till the light is on before filling back up to ensure it gets the full effect. If this does not help, I would then start hunting down any leaks to make sure your engine is not losing compression. If you notice excessive oil(more than the spitter valve should produce), the engine might have a blown seal. Hope it helps. If not, happy to brainstorm further. Just need a lil more detail on what exactly its doing.

Well I got it to run pretty good but it was short lived. I did everything I said in my original post and came to the conclusion the fuel pump was bad. it would pump gas but just not much at all and was pretty loud. I changed the pump and it still had an issue. it would start and run great but it did not run very good when I gave it much throttle. can't really say what fixed it. I pulled the fuel line at the carb and turned the key on and off a few times to cycle the pump and watched it pump out quite a bit of gas. this probably fixed it and primed the pump but I tinkered with a few other things like the air box/filter, pulled the top of the carb off and checked the diaphram, and reset the computer. After all of that the thing ran great.. I was able to go out and take it for a long test ride, probably about 20 miles. Took it to the store a few times and it ran great. Then I took it out and it crapped out again, of course I was in a mini skirt and heels.. lol I kind of assumed I had run it out of gas. there wasn't a bunch of gas in the tank, the light wasn't on but the tank was pretty low. this happened while I was going down a really long hill. got it home and added gas and it fired right up and seemed fine but I didn't ride it. went back out to ride it and it fired right up but even the slightest touch of the throttle and it would die. I pulled the fuel line at the carb and no gas at all, not even a trickle. So I'm assuming my new fuel pump went bad. The replacement fuel pump was not a Honda part but something I found on Amazon. They said they would replace the pump but I'm kind of thinking about forking over the cash for a Honda pump. Any thoughts on honda vs. random amazon pump?

That is the same pump I got off of Amazon. It worked for 20 miles.

I wonder if there is a wiring or fuse issue either causing your pumps to burn out or just not get enough power. Before spending on an oem pump, I'd get a cheap voltage meter and check the pump connection. If its weak, trace up the line.

I contacted Quantum and they are going to send me a new one. I'm kind of wondering if maybe I some how ran the pump dry and that burned it out. the tank still had gas in it but not a lot. the fuel outlet is towards the back so maybe while going down a really long hill it starved it's self a bit? I'm kind of just grabbing at straws there.. knowing my luck I probably just got a bad pump.

Doubt it starved enough to burn out the pump that fast, even on a long hill. More likely, the electrical or the pump you got just happened to be a lemon. Keep us updated on how the replacement pump treats ya. Best of luck!

well looks like I may have gotten a bad pump. replaced it and it started up and ran great. only took it for a short test ride so I'm crossing my fingers this one lasts a little longer.

I've put 200+ miles on it so I definitely think it is fixed! In the end I feel it needed everything I did to it and I ended up with a faulty pump as a kicker. Replaced the pump and it rides great.
