So I recently bought my first Honda Ruckus (14'). being a brand new ruckstar, and also a mechanic by profession, I wanted to get this bad boy running to a proper speed for in town use. (45 to 47 on flats. so Ill start by listing the parts I have purchased, installed, and tested.
1. NCY CDI 2. Polini Variator 5.6 and 6.9 rollers, also bought 7.5 dr pulley sliders(after more research I did see that higher weights are not always better) 3. Polini Kevlar belt 4. Main Jet sizes... stock(I think 75) 80, 85, 90, 95, 100. I bought all just for stocking purposes. 5. Pilot jet sizes... the stock and a 38 6. K&N air filter. deleted airbox.
My Variables: Sea level where I am located is around 1200ft above, humidity is naturally around 60 to 80%, I weigh 215, and I do live in a very hilly state.
Right now I am running a 90 main, 38 pilot, the air box delete, variator with the 7.5 in(only cause I haven't been able to mess with tuning for a few days to crazy schedule. On flats I'm getting around 35 just like stock, downhills are about 40, uphills... well don't even ask.
I'm working on getting a tach right now so I can properly tune but I do have a decent ear when it comes to engines and rpms.
So, my fellow rucksters, with the information provided, what do you all think would be a proper tune when it comes to jet size, weights for variator, and all that? ... again I am definitely new when it comes to scooters and any advice would be helpful even if its something I haven't mentioned in the above forum.
when I get a chance I will post a picture of my setup.
Thanks so much for any advice, and I will be looking forward to hearing from y'all.

I'd like to know too! Check to make sure your brakes aren't too tight. 40 miles in and my front burned through my speedometer wires. Adjusted and my acceleration went up.

I would go down to a 78 jet. 90 jet is huge. Also I would run some sort of intake runner.. Like the one TRS and MNNTHBX use which is part # Dayco Hose B71381 at a local parts store. www.autozone.com/cooling-heating-and-climate-control/hose-lower/dayco-hose-b71381/887513_0_0And you can use a piece of 1" pvc from homedepot to connect the air filter to the hose. At your weight id try the 5.6g rollers with a 38/78 jetting. I've never had as good of luck with polini belts, always used Gates or Honda.

Hey Iruckonthefirstdate, so I'm going to give you some advice based off of my still ongoing tuning experience. I personally run a $20 single wire lawnmower tach and its a great help.
For your situation with a wide open intake you'll want to run something in the ballpark of a 38S80M combo in your carb and then go from there test wise. You can partially cover your intake to check for a lean condition after swapping to a smaller jet. Since you have such large jumps in size you could find an 80 to be lean and boggy and the 85 to be rich and smelly. When it comes down to your weights I'd suggest you slap your lightest weights in and try that. Keep a notebook with 4 values in it Weights / RPM / *Uphill Speed / Flat Speed. *Pick a hill nearby and note the lowest speed you hit on that hill. Keeping that notebook you'll know how your rucks performing in varying conditions with your different weight setups and can look back on it.
So yea, hope that helps. Also keep running the lowest octane you can for more power (or play around and keep a page in your notes for that too)
Happy tuning!
