Hey everybody,
Here's a question from a Ruckus newbie. I've seen a lot of really good information on oil changes, but in the owner's manual it says that you should use a tachometer to adjust the engine idle speed after the oil change.
From previous posts, I have a pretty good idea how to do my first oil change, but can anyone explain exactly how to use the tachometer? What type of tachometer do I need? Where do you attach it? etc.
Thanks.

If you only need an ocasional tach to adjust your idle, an inductive cheap one from the auto parts will do, if you want one to install in the ruckus, do a little reading and we have some old posts regarding this very matter

Chanito and Blackruk, thanks for the advice and the link.
Here's a follow-up question. I see several different types of tachs on this page. I know that our scoot is a 4 stroke; but they mention 2 types of tachs, one for engines that fire on the exhaust stroke (TT226NR-2C) and one that doesn't (TT226NR-4C).
Does anyone know which one we need for the ruckus? Does it make a difference?

Yes it makes a diference, our ruckus engine fires on every revolution (like a two cycle) so get one for it or the tach will show half the speed, so get the 2c

Yours is super nice Chanito. You can remove that bracket from it right? Cuz if I get one I'd like to fabricate a mount that holds the speedo and tach side by side and centered. Is your tach black on the sides? Ideally my tach would be black with a chrome ring to match the stocker and it'd rev to 10k, light up a night in red and be super cool.
Yours largely meets my criteria except for the 'red light' thing and maybe the black sidewalls but it's not a big deal so if that bracket is removable I'll check into it. I always though that yours was a bigger diameter than the speedo (speedo = 2 5/8) but now I see it's the same. Do you know where the best price is for one of those?

wow thats really nice chanito! so did you just have to mount the tach, and hook up the wire to that factory reset wire found hanging in the battery box and is that simple?!

110 seems to be the going price, i got mine from jeg's but summit or any other racing place would have them, i would try looking into a local speedshop, the size is very close to stock, the main diference would be that in the stock the trim is chrome and in the tach the trim is brushed aluminum, hooking it up is super straight forward, but the instructions that cames with it are terrible, look for my old posts they have the instructions ;D
