I'm at my wits end and about to take this thing to the Honda dealership and let them get it right for me... I've been watching this forum for a while now but need to finally ask you some questions...
I have a 2011. Bought used with around 1100miles on it, now has close to 1500. Came with yosh exhaust. Bought in North Dakota at 1200' but brought it to my place in Washington state at 400' above sea level. Couldn't get it to run... re jetted it to 38/85 and it ran like a champ out there, no issues. I got sick of the exhaust sound and put a used OEM exhaust on. Did not re jet, still ran pretty good but definitely lost some MPH at the top end.
Moved BACK to North Dakota. Ruck still ran OK, but not as good as it did in WA state. Not bad enough to warrant messing with any jets. Ran that thing all over last summer. Well, late last fall my son was riding it around our property and it quit running, dead as a doornail... This week I decided to get it right cause I want this thing running when nice weather hits.
Turned out to be a bad fuel pump. I replaced pump and filter and thing ran like a champ, again. That is until I put my fat butt on it. It dogged pretty bad, couldn't get it over 15mph. Felt like it was flooding out. So, I jetted it back to OEM, 35/75. That was a huge failure! Could barely get it to idle properly!! I then went to 38/80. better, but again, no top end once I got on it. then on to 38/90, no improvement...
I will say I am rather impatient. I allowed the ruckus to warm up a bit, but not a lot. I monkied with the idle screw a bit to get a nicer idle but that isn't seeming to help. I drained all the old fuel before starting this process. Only thing I haven't changed yet is the spark plug and air filter.
Any help is appreciated!!! I really don't want to take this thing in and spend $2-400 to fix a $1500 ride...
