OK, I researched posts on changing my coolant (needed every 2 years), but ran into some very conflicting/confusing information. Can someone clarify?
The Service Manual that I downloaded from motorscooterguide.net says "replacement requires mechanical skill" in the Maintenance Schedule section. The Coolant section only describes how to check and "top off" the coolant but says nothing about how to drain & replace coolant.
A search of posts on this wonderful website turns up some who say coolant replacement is very simple: just take off the radiator cover and cap, then undo the drain bolt on the bottom of the radiator to drain. That makes total sense, BUT one post insists that bleeding air from the system is critical and another agrees. The problem is that it's unclear exactly how to bleed air from the system. Does one refill the system with new coolant and then run the engine on idle with the radiator cap off for at least 3 minutes to bleed the system? Is this covered in any service manual or other reputable source?
I'm inclined to believe coolant change is actually quite simple, but it's too critical to screw up so I want to get it right. Thanks!

The proper way to fill the coolant is with a vacuum pump, because there is a lot of place where the coolant system can trap air that becomes superheated vapor real quick. now if you do not have a vacuum coolant system filler, then your only option is to bleed the system of air, at least twice before going for a ride

I just bought the Honda service manual and it doesn't recommend using vacuum. It recommends just running on the stand to purge all the air. The cooling galleries are set up in such a way as to allow easy purging.
