I decided to consult with the experts on this one because you all have way more experience with Rucks than I do.
Inputs: -2014 Ruck with about 1000 miles -195 LBS -NCY CDI installed (Yea, I know every one says you don't need this at first but I was hitting rev limiter on down hills all the time, held me back at 40-42 mph) -Modified stock intake for more flow, cut the baffle out (Really helped, made it more throaty and torque off the line) -Needle Mod in carb, added washer to raise the needle -Re-Jetted (I forget what size main and pilot) and adjusted air screw -Oil is at middle of dip stick - Tire pressure at 30 psi
It runs great! I am getting 38 on the flats and have hit 45 on down hill.
The issue: -At top speed 40-45mph I get a surging feeling with a lot of noise from the belt or variator or something down there, kind of like the rev limiter is kicking in (Faulty NCY?) but it feels like the belt or variator is making noise. Has anyone experienced this? Do the stock belts make noise when you go over rated speed? I have tried opening the air screw in 1/4 turn increments to see if it was a fuel issue. Could it be starving for fuel? Thanks Gents

Sound by the way you explain the problem, that one or more of your rollers is out of round (has a flat spot). Time to open the variator and take a look, also check that the belt is not shiny

Just to follow up on this, I installed a polini variator and my stock rollers were flat spotted, no more surging with the new variator and I believe I will hit 50mph now, just need warmer weather to conform it.
