Due to my Mom's Health Issues this year, and my Dad having to take care of Her, Mitzie and I couldn't ride up to Townsend until Friday. We rolled into DOCKS well after Dark. Kami and Joie were gone when we arrived so we walked over to the New Taco, Burrito, Burger Place.....GREAT Food at Really Great Prices...my Steak Burrito felt like it weigh 2 lbs...it came with Chips and Salsa also for just $4.99...a Definite Eaterie in the Future... ;D
We were soon joined by the Statesville, NC Brothers. After eating we headed back for some sleep before Saturday's Ride... ;D
We started Saturday with Breakfast from The Firefly. Bill and Sharron rode with us also....this made for a real "mixed bag" of 2-Wheel Vehicles...Me leading on a 750 Phantom Cruiser, Joie and Josh on 50 Ruckus Scooters, Mitzie on a PCX125 Scooter, Sharron on a Big Ruckus 250 Scooter, and Bill on a 600 Silver Wing Scooter..... ...Some Breakfast Pics.....
Instead of the "Same-Old-Been-Done-20-Times" Roads, I opted for different twisties, and much less traffic provided by the Jones Valley, Backside of Wears Valley, Carters Cove, Old River Road, Old 73, Old 321, 32, the Cosby, Newport Areas, and "The Other" Foothills Parkway...(Foothills East)..Lotsa' Scenery, Twisties, and No Traffic in Jones Cove. You're back in the Forrest with virtually no traffic. We headed there after Breakfast, then eventually up onto the Old Wears Valley Road, where Bill split off to watch the UT Game, and we headed over to the twisties of Bell Cove Road that brings You out on the far Gatlinburg end of Pigeon Forge without ever going into Town...next was a Bathroom Break.....
Not a lota' stops when this Little Group gets together...so Pics get scarce along the Route. Most every Road ridden on this Route had no shoulders, and pretty much constant twisties....we next took the Gatlinburg By-Pass, then the Roaring Fork Nature Trail to get over to Hwy 321 to head to Cosby and Hwy 32. On Twisty Hwy 32 we headed to the Newport Area with a turn onto The Foothills Parkway East. Unlike the Foothills Parkway outside Townsend, it is only 6 miles long and most curves are higher speed sweepers. New Asphalt now also, so a really nice ride.....
The views from The Parkway let us see there was still Lotsa' Snow on the Mountains that make up The Smokies.....
Having the Small Ruckus Scooters along means we have to backtrack The Foothills Parkway because it ends on I-40, and no way to run the Interstate with Them...a real shame, because the French Broad River Gorge, Hot Springs, NC, and Super Twisty Hwy 209 is the next place off of the Interstate... ;D
After backtracking, it was out Hwy 32 to Granny's Apple Orchard for Apple Turnovers and me to pick up 4 lbs of English Walnuts in the Shell... .....
Next on the Ride was the twisty Valley Road designated Hwy 339. It carries You over to the outskirts of Sevierville, Tn. The oldest covered Bridge in Tennessee is along the Hwy also. After taking Twisties back to Townsend, we prepared to ride out to the Pizza Place below Rich Mountain out in the Tuckaleechee Valley. You have to call Your Pizza in before 4:30 PM and bring Your own Drinks. This place scratch makes Their Pizzas, including the Crust and bakes Them on a Hot Flatrock Grill. You dine on a Large Wooden Deck, and it's home primarily to the Valley Locals. Virtually impossible to find...They don't even have a sign, and it just looks like a "House on a Hill". Mitzie and I just 2-upped out there at 50 to 60 mph on the PCX125 on Saturday Night. The PCX runs just as fast 2-up as single, just slightly longer to get up to speed... ;D
This night They also had some Country Music added also....."Pizza Place Pics".....
Joie inspecting Mine and Mitzie's Pizza.....
Kami consuming Their Pizza.....
Joie in charge of Paper Towel Distribution.....
Sharron in charge of Wine Consumption.....
Joie actually eating some of Sharron's "ALL-VEGGIE" Pizza.....
The Entertainment.....
On Sunday Morning we headed to Bennetts Bar-B-Q for the Breakfast Buffet.....
Everything is good with Gravy on it..... .....
After getting back to DOCKS, Mitzie and I had to hit the road for the 4.5 Hour / 221 mile Ride home on the Phantom and PCX. It was mild, sunny, and pleasant when we left Townsend, but long before we got Home a Cold Front had reached Our Area. We rode in Temps in the Thirties for the last 3 hours of Our Trip... ...."Happens"... ;D...Big THANKS to Sharron at DOCKS and Joie and Josh for a Great Time like ALWAYS...Hwy 70 between Rockwood and Crossville, Tn is fully peaked in Color....FANTASTIC.......See Ya', skuuter..... ;D ;D ;D
