I just got my first ruckus, its a 2005 and I really wish it would go a little faster. I'm a college student trying to save money on gas so I decided why not get a scooter. I plan on slowing doing some modifications to it. As if right now is does 38 with me on it and I weigh 260. If anybody knows of some mods I could get so I could do around 50, let me know.

yea i'm 230 and push 45 with a good tail wind and my polini. I've just stared running and managing my diet. It seems to be the cheaper alternative to make my ruckus faster.

Cheapest way to get more speed? Lightened flywheel, variator, belt, and clutch. You can do one at a time, and each one will help greatly. The flywheel is the only mod that won't need tuning and you will notice a change. Don't get a belt unless you get a variator, and don't get a variator unless you get the roller wieghts to tune it.
I'm 230 pounds, and have the flywheel from jcracing, a polini variator with 5.5g weights, and a daytona kevlar belt. I am pushing around 43-44mph.
I do have to say that if you are looking for speed without caring about the looks, a windshield will be THE BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK.

A windshield does not give more speed, but make the scooter reach top speed most of the time as it takes the wind factor out of it. A well tuned variator will give you a couple of extra mph and better acceleration and in my opinion is the better bang for your buck I read a lot of people say they get to 50 mph with a few mods, but i found it hard to believe, as it will require the engine to rev to 12k which i found extremely hard to do on flat ground Getting in the low 40s regularly wil require a variator a a late model ecu (06 an newer) and a chanito windshield

Speaking of hardware and the wind screen, I over tightened one of the bolts with the rubber "washers" behind it a while back and the rubber curled up around it after a while. Any place I can find something like them locally? (I haven't really looked)

Im new to this but am looking for some ideas? I have a 09 ruck that came with a after market pipe and a different spring in the transmission. I live in michigan and am about 220 pounds. The ruck would not start when I got it but I did a tune up and changed the jets. My average speed is 38-45 mph. I ride about 80 miles a day in the summer back and forth to work. I would like some ideas on how to make it faster? I have been looking at the GY6 motor but not sure what one to buy or where? does anyone have any ideas or know what one I should get? should or would I have to change my rear tire if I went to a bigger motor?
Just looking for ideas on motors, trans, carb size and type and ecu
any help would be great
Thanks Adam Spragueadam@gmail.com

You sir, have a lot of reading to do if u want to swap out the engine. 45 isn't bad on a GET u won't get much faster than that. 50 on a flat is usually unattainable, though I've seen it done. At best you're probably gonna find a max of 47-48 with good tuning and a shaved drive face. Weight reduction always helps. On the scooter and on you...
