Here in WA u just need regular license, no insurance, tabs and plates. Kind of a gray area tho because technically once u hit 30mph u cease to be a "moped" and become a motorcycle.

you can check out your state dmv laws regarding mopeds at www.dmv.org .............. Some states dont require any kind of license for anything under 50cc's. I live in Kentucky and I ride my Ruckus with only having to have a regular DL, insurance is not required but I have it just in case its gets stolen.... If you are interested in insuring it I got mine from Progressive and it was $300.00 for a full coverage policy...

Hmm that's pretty reasonable. That covers theft?

Yeah for $300.00 bucks it covers against theft, liability, comprehensive, uninsured motorists, and something else... Im not required to have license plates in KY but I do have a title for it (since I bought it brand new from the dealer) so Progressive just uses the VIN # as if it were the plate...

Yea I checked with the DMV the next day and if I remember right they just said I needed at least a regular license but would be smart or better to get a scooter/motorcycle endorsement on my license for the insurance and all...
