Urgent:Sudden power loss of Sachs Madass 125

Hello all, I am the owner of a 2011 Sachs Madass with 3400 miles on it, I have had no serious issues until lately with the bike, of which express concern over safety issues.

Needing information on the Madass 125 regarding a "sudden power loss" where all power to the bike is lost and then jumps back on. It started about a month ago when I turned on the ignition I had no power, absolutely none. Then I moved the bike the power would come on. That issue remedied itself and I did not see the issue until 2 days ago when for some strange reason, I would turn the bike to the left and the power comes on, start the bike, straighten out the wheel and lose power. That would last about 20 mins and after riding at times as I would pass other cars, the bike would suddenly lose power and then power up again.

This is extremely dangerous as a bike rider you are constantly battling tailgaters, if the bike loses power and the person in back of you is riding you end hard, then accident.
The strange thing is that now the tuning fork is on the left side to start, straighten out the wheel and lose power.

I am posting this because riders need to understand the dangers lurking out there with all these automotive satellite systems that are able to turn cars off and on, it is affecting my way of life, fun and ability to maintain a job. Question is has anyone else experienced this and would a module to make the power on the bike more of an AC rather then DC?

The even stranger thing is that it hasn't affected my 650cc bike yet and they are parked right next to each other...very important for riders of small cc motorcycle and scooters.

Just talked to a person knowledgeable with the Sachs Madass 125 and the ignition switch wire is cut or loose and needs to be re-soldered together. It was just the strangest thing as I would turn the steering to the left and have power, then straighten out the wheel and lose power. Then later that same day turn the steering to the right to gain power and straighten the steering out and lose power. I had never seen anything like this.

Much apologies for the reference to the automotive satellite systems which do have a purpose, I guess you would need to have a specified telephone module sort of like a bomb ignition switch to control the car, I was thinking more in terms of the Electro-magnetic fields(EMF) and Electro-magnetic pulses(EMP) that can reverse the polarity of the Direct Current from the battery, it was a long shot. If you live up here with all these stolen vehicles, leased automobiles and figure auto manufacturers are going to re-confiscate all those cars, anything was possible. I just did not think of the ignition wire being split...wow. Much apologies and thanks to the techs at Moto-Scoot.

Well I got under the lights today as was shocked to at what I saw, the connector to the ignition and wire harness had been frayed and was on the way to completely separating.



This was total insanity for the last 2 days with the bike just jarring and jumping, then it would stop.

The install was extremely easy. I wound up clipping the connectors from the ignition switch and the wire harness because I could not solder the wires back in to the wire harness connector. First be sure to remove the positive lead to the battery or else you will blow your fuse, it is a 15A plug-in style fuse.

Remove both lights to expose the connectors, so I prepared my 2 wires for a bridge and just soldered them in place, this is not the greatest soldering job but it got the job done. I might have opted for wire connectors but did not have at the time.





I wrapped the wires with electrical tape and put it back together. It works fine and I think the bridge is long enough so that the turning of the handle bars will not stretch or make the soldered joints break.

If you own a Sachs Madass I would suggest doing this because it looks like the stock wires are just not long enough to stop the constant motion of the bike from doing damage, I really think this is what happened. It will save you a broken arse and time if the bike breaks down, I might have got on the bike to fast during Christmas when it was just cold enough to freeze the wires.

It is a worth while upgrade. Unfortunately if the ignition goes it is just a little more work, so you create the bridge to elongate the wire harness to keep the connectors, I did not have that option.
