Hey guys i just recently got an '09 ruckus used from a friend for about $1500 bucks. Great deal, only 63 miles and never ran through a tank of gas! But I was wondering about modding the area around the rear fender. I was considering taking it off completely but i didn't know if anything would get in there and mess anything up. Also, I was curious of that almost triangular shaped box on the left side of the rear tire. I've seen rucks without this, but I wasn't exactly sure what is in there

That little triangle thing is your air box. There is a great how to on this site for how to remove it along with your fender if you chose. WARNING!!! You WILL have to rejet your carb if you remove your air box. K & N makes a filter that will fit on your stock air box hose RC-0970. I can not stress the importance of knowing what your getting your self into with this mod.

Is there a better air filter that fits inside the factory air box?

I had both fenders removed on my Last Ruckus....in case of a "Law Enforcement Check"....Your Seat can be counted as a Fender....no front and "OOooooooops"...........
