Hey guys ...this is Chanito's son Miguel. Id like to thank you ahead of time for your concern as i know he has many friends on this forum. I'll be doing my best to keep you abreast of the situation until he makes his timely return to the forums to update you himself. He is awake, and as alert as anyone on heavy pain meds can expect to be...his spirit is unbroken and you'll be glad to know he cracks some sarcasm about wanting to dance some salsa in the near future.
Chanito will be going into some serious ortho surgery on Wed to begin repairing the knee but he's looking at a long road to recovery (3 months plus of little to no activity) and then the ensuing therapy, etc. We have been told the broken hand is inconsequential but thats in light of the seriousness of his knee injury.
I'll be writing again soon, and if we can get some wifi in the hospital...he'll be giving you his own account in time. Properly embellished to create a hero...using given names to expose the guilty and saving no one their due shame...
Cheers ...

Hey guys,
Chanito is out of surgery and sleeping soundly. He's got some new hardware in his left knee...4 pins and a plate. We should be taking him home tomorrow and I'm sure he'll be signing on soon there after...though i cant imagine how comprehensive his writing will be considering the pain meds.
Thanks for all the well wishes and good vibes.
Miguelito

So the surgery went very well and I am in my room recouperating. i would like to thank you guys all for the well wishes....and to remind ourselves that even slow speed accidents can be very damaging. I fell off the scooter after the rear wheel got jammed up by some debris on the floor....threw me off the bike and when i tried to get myself up off the floor, i got this excrutiating pain in my left knee and immediately fell back down on the floor screamin like a girl. Luckily for me...all this happened at work in the parking lot so people could come to my rescue and after several attempts to try to walk, we realized my knee was damaged. So we called 911 and when they came and cut my work pants open they discovered that my knee looked like a purple sweet potato and they said..."this is broken, you need to go to the hospital." So it was time to call the wife and let her know that her New Year's Eve plans had to be cancelled which obviously threw a wrench in the night. Once in the hospital after some xrays they discovered that i had a Plateau Tibial Fracture which i dunno what it is yet...but its supposed to be very very bad. Since there were no orthopedic surgeons at the hospital, they gave me some pain meds, some crutches and sent me on my way home. That night was a miserable night...going to the restroom proved to be a real chore. So the next morning we decided to go back to a different hospital to see if there was a surgeon who was ready to operate. We got there and there was a surgeon waiting for us but he still couldnt operate because the knee was super swollen. However, it was discovered that my left hand was also broken which I suspected because of the pain from using the crutches. So the idea of crutches had to be scratched and it was decided to admit me to the hospital to help with the swelling and prevent infections. There they decided to do a bunch of stuff...a couple of other surgeons were called and it was decided that i needed to remove the bone chips and replace the bone with a bone from a cadaver. So that brings us to today. As soon as i can drive myself over to work, i gotta go over and do some serious brown nosing. Anyways, if any of you guys are interested in a well used, big bore ruckus and a slightly used metropolitan...let me know, my wife wants them both gone. Chanito
