replacing my bent up stock exhaust with another stock exhaust, i mashed up the gasket in the process, score. so, i took out my calipers and measure the exhaust flange fitting as well as the engine case and the washer i need is 19mm in diameter on the inside, and 26mm in diameter on the outside.
my question is this, and im sure ill find out first thing tomorrow morning when i return from the hardware store. but im assuming that i can find or make one as long as it fits and works (judging by the sound and response) and as long as its a softer metal like copper then im all good to go correct?? anyone with any experience on this?

Old one somewhat intact? take it along to hardware store or lawn mower shop and see if they have something close. You'd be surprised how generic parts are at times.....

yea its obliterated. the thing isnt a washer or anything, its like thin aluminum coil and once it looses shape thats it. but yes i agree, on to the hardware store first thing! i could go in to more detail about the gasket design but whats the point haha- ill post the outcome asap tomorrow.

finished product. i dont have a decibal meter but to my ear (which is really good) it sounds like stock and more importantly feels like it. the whole job took maybe an hour. digital fractional calipers were invaluable. outer ring 26mm, inner 19mm. Attachments:

im kentuckyrucky, had a little bit of an account invasion, but its all good now, new name yah! anyways, this works good as a TEMPORARY fix. i ordered a couple oem's from the dealer for $3.60 each. i cant wait til they get here! the first few days were okay but then a little tin can noise started to develop. it plateaued but is still slightly annoying/noticeable. if i were making a piece as a permanent fixture for say a custom pipe then id take the measurements to a local cnc shop and be done with it. or instead of the stock design have 2 flat faces and use a mr. gasket copper bike gasket
