hey guys just got a '09 ruckus from cycles 128 in MA. it is the first scooter i have ever owned. when buying it they told me that i would have to get a plate and pay for insurance... or they could restrict it and i can just get a sticker. with fall and winter soon to be here i figured i would restrict it get my sticker and then take it off next spring when i have a full season infront of me. the problem is my good friend bought the same bike as me did not restrict it got his sticker no problem and now i cant even keep up with him! i am "edit profanity" cause there was no reason to do this in the first place and it cost me about 125.00$ and ill be damned if i am gonna pay that again to have them take it off like 5 days later! I have not found anything definitive as to how you take the restrictor off a 09 ruck. everything i see says something different. i love this bike have put almost 200 miles in a week on it. i dont even want to go really fast just keep up with an identical bike. can anyone help me please... i mean worst case i go back and have them take it off... prob for more money. ugh... frustrated at 30 mph

First you need to know what they did to restrict it, i supect they just installed a metro II variator, so switching back to the stock ruckus will be the solution, but then again maybe they did something else

thanks. i appreciate any hep from you guys. I am gonna stop in and talk with my salesman today after work. I cant really say that they told me the wrong law, but in MA it seems like no one police and DMV workers really know whats going on. It was just a totally unnecessary thing to do, but they made it seem like i needed to do it. thanks again!

never heard of the restrictor before, bu ti sympathize with the laws, in KY its no different. every person you talk to in the dmv or court system has a different interpretation of our vague moped and moto law. its maddening.

hey guys just a follow up... i went in the shop today and after some mild complaining i finally got them to tell me what they did... basically he said pull off the exhaust and remove the washer that they installed and put it back together... gonna do this tonight. I can honestly say that my buying experience at cycles 128 has been terrible... i can not reccomend them to anyone...

Glu5tik - did removing this washer help? You got any photos or details as to where it was located? I think in the U.K. It's restricted via the cdi, but interested to know!
