The engine case vents into the airbox so any gas fumes are vented out before they damage the oil. These fumes may go right back into the cylinder to get burned but sometimes they condense and over time you get a bit of sticky oil/gas like liquid in the airbox. It should collect in the drain tube at the back of the airbox so you can drain it if it accumulates too much. Regarding using coolant, this isn't good. Are you sure it's using coolant? This could either be caused by a leak somewhere or the headgasket could be blown and the coolant could be leaking into the cylinder and getting burnt, but if the latter was true you would also see air getting into the cooling system and collecting in the rad which stops the cycle of coolant and it will overheat with the light on the gauges coming on and the scooter going into limp mode (5mph). If this isn't happening then it's likely a leak somewhere. Maybe a hose got pinched somehow and it's dripping out?
