some pics showing off my new ruckus and it's first mods: firstly, the bicycle bottle holder and car gps mount, zip tied to the front cargo area. Attachments:

secondly, a black milk crate creatively trimmed and zip-tied into the seat rails. the back is still left open, but that's no big deal. Attachments:

also for your enjoyment, in order to get the mirrors a hair further out to see behind my huge self, i took the stock mirrors and increased the bend to about 90 degrees. i like the look! Attachments:

i took the mirrors off the bike, removed the lock nuts, and mounted the shaft in a bench vise. i found a 3/8" drive socket that fit over over the shaft past the threads as much as possible (the threaded part should stick out the bottom of the socket) i used a small pipe on the socket to get some leverage and bent the shaft. (note: there is some paint damage from being in the vise, which i touched up with black paint, but it's barely noticeable. i suppose you could use a rag or plastic vise inserts to reduce this possibility)

How did you do the milk crate? It looks interesting. I dont want to pay for any bags because they are just gonna get stolen and the tub that Honda sells is just way too much.

bag can be stolen without damaging it, which would defeat the purpose of acquiring it. thats like smashing a tv so you can get it out of the store. i use the bag- it rules. it velcros to the frame and has a front pouch for your phone or whatever else. so i check my texts at red lights without having to stand up and squeeze my hand in my jeans pocket. also the shoulder strap makes it a great gym bag. AND no matter what underseat storage you go with- make a little lock for your seat.

i made a seat lock by taking about 9" of small steel cable and crimping an eyelet on each end, then using a pop rivet to attach both ends (making a loop with the cable) to the side of the owners manual compartment under the seat. just undo the flat head screw on the owners manual compartment and remove the door to get access to the side wall of that compartment. so now you have a riveted loop sticking out from under your seat- just slip the loop into the helmet lock and close the helmet lock. viola! instant theft deterrent! granted, if someone really wants to etc etc

also- when i get home the bag comes with me, and when i go to class i take my goodies out. and when i go out i switch seat frames entirely so i dont even have anything steal-able on the ruck save the ruck itself. its all about management, to prevent 100% of theft just dont every own anything
