Ok!
Got my 09 Ruckus in june 09. Never had any urge to mod it in any way until 2 weeks ago when a buddy bought one and started modding his. I don't have any access to a shop or mechanic, and I only have some basic tools like a ratchet and a Dremel. Did this on a budget - lots of stuff bought used, but I'm really happy with it.Being on a limited budget I have done the best to:
a: make it more comfortable for me
b: give it it's own personality
1. Everyone does this. Frame extender 6", gas tank cover, trim down the plastic underneath, foot bars, lower the seat, new handle bars.
2. New mirrors.
3. New grips.
4. Grocery hook. I do my grocery shopping on my Ruckus - so I bought a chromed coat hook, and mounted it onto the handlebar block. Works perfect. tried it with a 4 litre / 1gallon of milk on each side at the same time. no issues.
5a. I also raised the speedometer and turn signal indicator.
5b.Bottle Holder. I always carry my Sigg water bottle, so needed a holder for it. Had to grind it out a bit for the bottle to fit.
6. New muffler. I love the sound of this little guy. Except now I want new rims!
7. Front blinkers. With the low handlebars installed - I had to move the front blinkers lower. I saved the cut off metal pieces for later.
8. Rear blinkers. Using the cut off metal pieces from the front blinkers, I mounted the rear blinkers here on the side, nice and low.
9. I cut off the rear taillight attachment, but not all of it. I left some bits sticking out, and this way the license plate folds nicely over them.
10. The rear tail light is screwed into the underside of the seat.
11. Foot pegs. I LOVE to ride my Ruckus, leaned back as far as I can, feet stretched way out. I gave seen a lot of foot peg mods around, but - they are just pegs. I need something with more comfort
Remember at the beginning I said I got new mirrors? Well, look closely and you might see what I did with the metal rods from the old mirrors. I then picked up some steel corner brackets, sanded them for a touch more shine, and voila. My feet can sit flat and comfortable while riding.
12. Personality. I see a lot of paint jobs on these forums, or decals. Unless I am mistaken - I have not seen anything like what I did. I took my inspiration from Paul Stanley's Cracked Mirror guitar. Since they are mirror, they are great at reflecting what is around them - unfortunately I was taking photos in a grey underground parking lot
13. And here she is!!!
