I have a 2005 ruckus with 5500 miles on it. I just got it and want to change all the fluids and tune it up. What kind of oil is suggested. And any general maintenance suggestions would be appreciated.

I also recommend very frequent oil changes. 600M1000km sounds about right for a pre-06. Though I'd say, don't be scared to spend on high high high grade oil since you'll use only 600ml each time. IMO you should use automotive, not motorcycle oils since car oils have more antifriction additives as they don't run wet clutches. "I" Think you should at least run a synthetic diesel oil with a high ZDDP content (like Shell Rotella), but if you want to baby the bike, "I"d recommend Motul 300V. I actually got a whole extra summer out of a shot crank with the motul! The bearings started to whine in the fall, and opportunity to open it up during the winter never came, so we ran it on motul the next summer and got another 8000+ KM out of it, until we ran out of motul. We dunked some Mobil1 in it and 2 weeks later the crank brearings sounded like a coffee grinder. Truely the nectar of the Gods. I'm FINALLY going to rebuild it this spring and after breaking it in on straight 5W30 dino oil, I'll switch it to Shell Rotella, which is more affordable than motul in big jugs, so it'll allow for more frequent oil changes while still packing a LOT of protection.
