I just ordered the Polini variator and plan on installing it... in the next month I should be ordering the Yoshimura TRC carbon exhaust. I am curious if I will need to rejet with these modifications, and what are your suggestions as far as sizes? I would also like to ask what other modifications I can do to get a little more top end out of my Ruckus. It is my main form of transportation, I do a 25mi round trip atleast 4 times a week, on roads that are 45mph... is it possible to hit 50mph with a 50cc and what mods should I be considering to attain this? Thanks for any advice!

The Polini variator affects your gearing, so with it you will be geared taller on the top end which can result in a higher top speed if you have the power to pull it. Usually people gain a couple mph with the Polini but you can gain more if you also do other mods to increase power. The Yosh exhaust looks great and sounds awesome but it doesn't do too much for power. Exhausts don't matter as much for 4-strokes as they do for 2-strokes.
To gain more top end, you can add power to your engine via the H.O. cam and the PC20 carb. You'll also need a freer flowing intake but the pod filter included with the carb kit will do this, or you can modify the stock airbox to have a larger opening. If you want to go all the way with the stock motor you can do the Chanito big bore kit which will bump you up to 58cc. The cam, carb and big bore piston are the three main mods you can do to increase the power output of your engine.
To get to 50mph you'll need signficantly more power, but you'll also need taller gearing (which you have ordered) and probably a CDI. With the Polini you'll probably hit the redline around 45-48mph, so you'd need a CDI to raise or eliminate the redline if you want to make it all the way to 50mph. Alternatively, you can buy taller final drive gears to gear you even taller so you get to 50mph without exceeding the stock redline.
Another thing to consider is reliability and cost. All these parts get quite expensive and the more stuff you do to your motor the less reliable it's going to be. This isn't really because the parts are unreliable but rather because the more you crack open and modify your engine the more likely you are to mess something up. With that said, a higher performing engine will have a bit shorter of a life.
Regarding jetting, I would toss the Yosh exhaust on without rejetting and see how it goes. If it runs good and your spark plug looks okay then I would leave it at that. If you lose performance and/or your spark plug looks really white or black (to over simplify things) then your engine is running lean or rich respectively and it needs larger/smaller jets to suit.

where do u get your info dan.. after the first couple lines i had to stop reading.. an exhaust is an exhaust 2 or 4 stoke.. they mostly open up your top end and can decrease your low but an exhaust will always give you more power.. and let me add a pipe on a ruckus makes a HUGE difference in top end.. i suggest intake and jet too but over all a pipe will let out alot more air pressure ..

It doesn't make a huge difference in power. No Ruckus exhausts do. Do some reading. I've been working on Rucks and on Ruckus forms for 7 years and no one has ever claimed to notice a significant power increase with an aftermarket pipe. You're looking at maybe a 5% power gain if you're lucky. More people lose top end than gain. The story changes a bit if you've got a big bore engine but it's still never going to provide nearly as big of a boost as a good aftermarket 2-stroke exhaust. There is a huge difference between 2-stroke and 4-stroke exhausts due to the expansion chamber in a 2-stroke exhaust and positive benefits that reverse pressure has to cram more air into the cylinder. let me add a pipe on a ruckus makes a HUGE difference in top end You got your Ruckus less than 2 weeks ago. Have you used an pipe on a Ruckus?
