ok, so this is officially going to be my first actual performance modification to my ruckus. i have a 2009 that i bought in april, and i got 1200 miles on it. i haven't ridden since december except for a couple of days it got over 40F.
this is the cutest thing i've ever worked on! from the pictures and the warnings and the fact that i have never taken anything like that apart, i was seriously hesitating to try this, but it wasn't that difficult at all!
i used my belt as a variator holding tool (it's made from a toyota 3.3l timing belt) and took off the variator. i'm going to file down the nose and the slide tomorrow at work.
after this mod, i'm not really sure what i should do that's in my budget to get some better performance. i've been reading about clutch springs and pulley springs and different weights. it seems to me that putting heavier weights will suit my needs for now.
i was seriously considering the 150cc gy6 swap, but i just don't have the money for that these days. :/

i'm in the middle of this mod and i'm thinking, if i DON"T cut the spacer to 35mm, will that save my bottom end? or will that put the top end out of the range of the variator? if anyone gets this before 5pm est, please email me so i can finish the job!

thanks!!!

in the end, i screwed up i nicked the face and so i thought i'd wet-sand it, STUPID. 400 grit wet sand, no good, looks like the belt is twisting. i'll have to try 1500 and buff it to see if i can get it glass like the variator face.

in the end, i'm going to undo what i did by putting the spacer i made back in the drive plate to restore my bottom end. not enough of a difference. oh well :/
