;D ;D Should be a first mod to any stock ruckus... I can now hang with traffic off the line up to 30mph instead of the 25mph... Was riding at 46 mph today on flats and this was not tucking... Granted i only weight about 140 and have the windshield... Best mod yet... minus the cosmic mods of course... ;D ;D

What boss are you talking about?

The variator spacer, as that is what the parts microfiche calls it

So, can you be a bit more specific? How much? Why? What gives with this mod? It sounds like it works, but a few photos might be helpful as well.
Thanks!

When you cut the boss down it makes the scooter go faster, but it is like taking off in a higher gear. Please read the threads here, it does talk about that mod and the pro and cons of it. If you read the threads most of the questions you have will be answered. Thanks!

A metal file, lots of elbow grease and patience

I prefer to shave/filedown the drive face. Same result, easier task.

One thing to consider here. Doing this gears you higher. If your not hitting the rev limiter you will probably never notice this. you may actually notice a loss of acceleration. And please be sure to stop short of ruining your splines

The drive face is made of soft aluminum, and is the part that have the splines that drive the transmission, so cutting too much can reduce the area transmiting power and can strip, is way too easy to go too far and ruin it, far safer is to file down the boss (spacer) and a little of the drive face Anyway this is what i recommend, i copied this here so is closer for reference I used a brand new file and it work great, this is what i did, and i did a lot of tries and this is so far the best, hope that using this information will save you some time. I found that if you put both halves of the front belt drive together there is still a groove big enough for the belt not to ride far out en ought so i filed the nose keep filing until the depth of the outer face is 22mm This will allow both halves to get closer so the belt ride further out File the spacer until is 35mm long hope this helps, do not forget to lube the spacer, but make sure you do not lube the rollers or ramps, as this creates all kind of interesting behavior on the variator.

Someone should get a bunch of these boss's together, have them machined, and then sell them to us for cheap!!! hahaha, but seriously though!

Believe it or not the market is not big enough to mass produce parts
