----I just installed the Yoshimura TRC Exhaust system on my new 09 ruck....Wow----really freaking load, but sounds low and mean kinda like a ATV----The factory, (Yoshi) recommended an 80 Main Jet with an unmodified air box, but what fun is that----I decided to drill a few 1/4 inch holes around the snorkel area before re-jetting. I figured that I should start with a 85 jet to comp. for the added airflow and installed it with no problems----After I drove it i noticed what seems to be a lean misfire when tring to accellerate. It sounds like backfiring, espeacially in the midrange----should I go up another MJ size or do I need to adjusted my needle settings?----I have tried adjusting the IMS, but doesn't seem to change the backfire much at all. --It takes off from the line pretty hard, so does this mean that my SJ is pretty close?-----I know I should have just left the factory exhaust on there, but this system just looks too cool---I'm just wondering if it flows TOO good, and if anyone else has tried it out while using the factory air box with B & S air filter? ?-----Thanks for any help from anybody from anywhere ---------------------------Mac (newbee)

Update----tonight I decided to clip my spring (1.5 rounds) and shim my needle about a mm (coors light and bud light tabs for good luck)--It still ran like poop with little to know accell.-----so I reinstalled the factory 75 Main Jet just to see what would happen---To my surprise, it ran much better in the mid-range---just crappy around the 1/4 throttle mark----I thought that maybe I had been running rich all along (thought that the backfire/misfire was a lean condition), so I opened up my airbox even more-then it would take off good until about 4k and then fall flat on it's face and almost die. I am really confused now, so I just taped up my new intake holes for the time being----I am really wondering if this exhaust flows too good with not enough backpressure...If this is the case, then I am wondering if the increased exhaust flow is pulling a higher vacuum signal on the jets, and making me run rich even with the small factory Main Jet ----Is this possible or am I missing something?----I am even wondering if I could create a restriction in the pipe running to this free-flowing muffler--possibly a sleeve inside the pipe----thanks and have a ruckful day----Mac

maybe you should just take it one step at a time and patch up those holes you drilled and run the 80 jet. then if thats trouble free you could start tampering, but remember, only introduce one variable at a time, to avoid situations like the one your in. you failed to appreciate just how sensitive this engine is to change, and by introducing multiple variables at the same time, you do not know which to confront first.

Did you ever figure this out? I have similar problems with my Yoshi... It seems to sputter a little when going 15-20 maintaining.
