I just purchased a 07 Ruckus with K&N air filter mod and a Polini Race exhaust. The problem I am having with the scooter is that from a dead stop to wide open it has a Shudder, especially when it is cold. After it warms up it seems to still have the issue, but not as bad as the initial starting. The owner before me said that he had put the biggest Main Jet he had on it out of a kit he bought but not sure the size, but the slow jet is still stock. The scooter seems to do fairly well in the top of the power band, it gets up to about 35-40 on the straights with me at about 275 lbs. This Shudder is worrying me because I do not want to destroy my ride at 500 miles on it.
I am thinking about trying to adjust the idle mixture screw as suggested by chanito, but not sure if that is where I need to start or if I need to get a full set of jets to do this thing right.

Try adjusting the mix screw first. You might get lucky, and not have to swap the main jet. The stock slow jet should be fine. Most likely you will have to get a main jet kit, or at least a 80,82,85,88. It probably has too big of a main jet if the guy said he just tossed in the biggest one in the kit. Hopefully you have some experience in carb tuning. There are 2 threads in the how-to section I highly recommend reading: "Adjusting the stock keihin NVK cv carb" and "Timbers jet swap how to" Oh,and

Tinyjmods try what Chanito said. He is very good at knowing how to fix your scooter. Probably one of the best. Did you get the rest of the jets from the kit? Try and get them if you didn't. Seeing as your're new here read the posts on fixing/modding the ruckus. A lot of the questions new rucksters have, were already answered on here. You can also use the search on here too if you have any questions.

Glad to be here everyone!
Here is what I have now after ajusting the mixture screw and have came out about 1/2 a turn and the Ruckus still had a small issue in the mid range with it stumbling until today. I put in a new plug and took it out for a ride, noticed it still had a small stumble in the mid range and drove it about 15 miles. I did some busness and started to come home, this time it starts stumbling from the bottom to mid. I pulled the plug when I got home and found that the grounding strap is almost white kind of a lite tan and the rest of the plug was clean. This thing has been a rollercoster, one minute it is running great, next we are missing and chugging. Oh and one more thing that might be a clue I bought premium the last fill up mixed in with the 86 he normaly drives in it, could this be some of the issues?
Going to do a bit more reading around here and hopefuly find the answer to Jeckle and Hyde Ruckus.

Fixed! I knew it had to be around this board somewhere. The issue was the previous owner had not done the K&N air filter mod right. Thanks to this post the problem is fixed and the 1/8-1/4 tuning on the mixture screw makes a difference. I pulled the intake made from the old airbox tube and found that the end of the carb had fuel on the rubber tube. After doing the mod on this post the thing does not have a bog issue at all! Great Board and glad to be a part of it. The post that helped was battlescooter.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Aftermarket&action=display&thread=5131&page=1
