hello, after about 3 weeks of troubleshooting and replacing parts, i finally checked compression and only have about 50. tried the oil in the plug hole,it didnt increase compression so i think it may be my valve seals, whats involved with changing these. thanks

alve seal will not make you loose compression, just use oil, probably your vaslve are not seating properly, remove the shims and crank to check compression, if it gets better then you just need to adjust your valves, if not you probably burnt a valve, just make sure that you can crankit with the shims remove, i do not know how deep the shim pockets are, if they are too deep this ideas might not work

The shim pockets are maybe 1.5mm deep as a guess. Have you tried using the kickstart to crank the engine to top dead center and then checked to make sure both valves are closed? This will ensure your timing is correct. There are marks under the valve cover that are supposed to line up at TDC.

i will take some pictures of the service manual so you can see how to replace a valve, it is not that hard, but the easiest way would be to take the head to a machine shop and have them do it, should be no more than fifty and it is maoney well spent if you have never done it, however if you fel brave then go ahead and do it ;D

I agree. Good pics. Where can you get these shims that you talk about?

any honda dealer sells em. the use the same shim size on all there motorcycles so the mechanics should have the right ones in the back. Some times the service guys are ignorant/anal and want you to order shims but the mechanics always have a box so they can adjust bikes when they're brought in.
