Read through a bunch of posts and see spark plugs as a high hitter on the "if your having problems" to do list. I rode 2 stroke dirt bikes for a long time. Rule of thumb was to keep a spare set of plugs in the tool kit at all times unless you felt like pushing your ride home. Finally broke down & bought a set of plugs with a gold or platinum plated (? or was it solid ) electrode that lasted an entire season of riding...expensive but worth it. Hey, $8 for a pair of plugs was the better part of a day's wages when you were only making $2.10 /hr.
Most of the 4 strokes I rode were much larger engine wise (750+). Never had a problem with plugs other than routine maintenance meaning verifying the burn, cleaning as needed and checking the gap.
My knowledge has slipped a bit as it has been more than a quarter of a century since I turned a wrench on a bike. Are the newer, small 4 strokes prone to destroying plugs? If so, are the newer iridium plugs a better choice? I believe the stock plug is a CR8EH9. I run WOT most of the time. Still need to pull the plug to get a better idea of how it's burning. Also wondering if anyone who runs WOT the majority of the time has switched to a cooler running CR9EH9.

I'm pretty sure almost every other Ruckus owner rides WOT 90% of the time. I don't think you have to worry so much about the spark plug in a Ruckus, other than routine stuff.

I noticed that the CR9EH9 (aka WOT plug) which is supposedly better as I understand is cheaper than the standard CR8EH9. Seems backwards to me.

not really, as the one in the ruckus seems to work fine under most conditions, the WOT is suposse to be colder so it can stay colder and not get affected by high speed misfiring (mostly due to the rev limiter) but it does not perform any better under most conditions
