did going up a steep hill, luckily it decided to break in front of a local scooterists garage! Now my bike sits deep in the bowels of this garage until my new belt arrives on wed. The belt had about 2000 miles on it. Has this happened to anybody else? I had put over 8000 miles on my old belt..

I shredded one once but it happened when I put the variator back together with the nut on too loose. I'm not 100% sure what happened but the variator wasn't grabbing it so the belt would have been whipping around the shaft at tremendous speeds when I took it for a ride.

Wasn't my belt. It sounded and smelled of burning rubber when the bike wouldn't move but when I took the case cover off 2 bolts back by the clutch had loosened there way all the way to the point where it was carving the metal out of the back of the clutch YIKES! well I tightened and put some lock-tite on and it elimintated the problem.
