I've had my Ruckus for about a year now and I want to change the air filter. Living in then desert it just needs to be done often. I've seen a couple types of filters to pick around here from what but what I havent been able to find is a model number. I dont want to go down to autozone and look like a complete idiot and say I have no idea what I need. I'd rather do that here Also having had it for a year what kind of other maintenance should I be doing? I've changed the oil already. Is there anything else that really needs to be done? Please note I live in a very dusty and dry environment.

Hi! I recommend the K&N Air Filter! This is a Wash and Reuse Filter! Just buy the K&N Cleaning Kit and you're good to go forever! The Part Number is 33-2238! There's no listing for the Ruckus itself, but it's the one that fits! In fact, I bought one from Autozone this past Wedneday! On my Ruck, the Throttle Response is alot quicker! It also feels a bit faster! Oh, I paid $33.00 for mine! ;D

Hi Firegut, the Filter itself was $33.00! The Cleaning Kit was about $12.00! Sorry about that!

That's still cheaper than two of the stock replacement air filters. And, the K&N will out last them by far.

;DK&N has lifetime gaurante ;D. Just use the cleaning kit as needed (easy). Cheaper than having to replace disposable filters twice a year.

Does the K&N go directly on the carb?

Bigmac, K&N makes a pod style filter and a OEM style filter. The OEM style filter does not fit. I think the air box can get in the way of some aftermarket shocks, so it might be a good idea to replace the shock first if you are going to replace it, then do the K&N pod style air filter. The pod style air filter will not get in the way of the aftermarket or stock shock. The K&N pod filter can go directly on the carb, but there will be turbulance in the air flow which will mess up the carb and you will never get it jetted right. The thing to do is put the K&N on the end of the plastic hose that hooks to the airbox or make or get a custom air intake. Look in the how-to and aftermarket and maybe some other post sections on how to put the pod filter on. If you do the filter also look in the tunning section. It would be a great idea to read all of this forum. Most questions you have, have already been discussed or answered on here already.

The K&N pod filter can go directly on the carb, but there will be turbulance in the air flow which will mess up the carb and you will never get it jetted right. I consider my scoot pretty fast. My filter is mounted directly on the carb. I got NO problems.
