Hi Folks, Have my Ruckus for 3 months now, love it. Could anyone in the know tell me what kind of charger to use on my battery? Can I use a standard car 12volt charger? Thanks, Pete

Our battery is very small and can boil over, so you need a low amp charge to charge it a trickle charger like a battery tender is the best ;D

Yup....a battery tender or any trickle charger is best. If you want to make it easy, you can install a cigarette lighter and wire that to the battery. Then you can get a battery tender that plugs into that.

AND........I believe this is a must. Run some leads off the battery and let them lie outside of your battery box towards the bottom. That way you never even have to take the battery box off to charge it.

Nice.....a cigg lighter is something I'm going to add to every scooter I own from now own. Unfortunately my last scooter was an '83 Yamaha which was an old 6 volt electrical system so I couldn't get one.

You could have gotten one. You just couldn't use it for anything but lighting 6v cigarettes.

Thanks, Y'all. I might have screwed up. My kill switch appeared to be between contact points. I only noticed AFTER I bought a new battery for 70 bucks! Anyhooooo, I now have 2 batteries. Any suggestions for making good use of the original?

Is it a new Ruckus, or a used one? In other words .. how old is the battery? A new battery should not be 'dead' that soon.
Starting the bike with the kickstarter, and riding it around, should be good enough to charge the battery.
NOTE: running a battery completely dead will damage the battery. Yes, you can re-charge it .. and, yes, it will last (for a while) but it will not last as long as it would have lasted if it didn't run out.
Open up the battery box and check the connections on the battery. Sometimes vibration will cause these to come loose (been there, done that)
