My bike's leaking coolant where the metal pipe to the rad fits into the engine block. So I need to replace the o-rings.. or somehow recondition them... In the past I have ordered parts from Ron Ayers ( fiche.ronayers.com/Index.cfm) in the past but it's prohibitively expensive for shipping, exchange rate and paying to get it past the Canadian border. There's also a two week wait that I'd like to avoid. So: Has anyone bought parts for the Ruckus from a store in the Greater Toronto Area? Would some o-rings from, say, Home Depot do the job? Or do you know of a way to recondition a rubber o-ring so it might live again? Ta. :)

Crappy tire usually sells a happy pack of o-rings. Some good ol Vaseline may do the trick, too. Chanito mentioned using it once. Not sure if it was on the coolant tube though.

Why not order the parts from your local Honda Motocycle dealer? That's what I do for stock parts. Cdn Honda dealers are about 30% more expensive than the USA Honda prices you see online at sites like RonAyers but the dealers normally get stuff in, in 1-3 days and there's no shipping costs.
For aftermarket stuff, check out ImportationsThibault.com's Scooter catalogue. They have quite a bit of stuff.

We don't appear to have any Honda Motorcycle dealerships in Toronto; all of the Honda dealerships are cars only. Which is the source of my frustration in finding parts. However one of the motorcycle shops should be able to order in Honda parts.. hopefully with not too hy00ge a mark up. >.< Importations Thibault's catalog looks like it will be fun to browse. I am considering getting a new exhaust.. maybe once I've finished paying off my credit cards... Ta. :)

Click on 'Dealer Locator' at this page: honda.ca/MCPE/Motorcycle/default?L=EIt shows 8 dealers in the GTA, there's gotta be one that's not too far away. I guess if you're right downtown it might be a decent ride but it still beats waiting a few weeks for parts.

It turns out that using Vasoline on the o-rings is a bad idea. I idled the engine and ran it around a little in the parking garage and it appeared to be working. But then during a short test ride my bike leaked (gushed!) coolant at an even greater rate, causing rapid over heating and a blown head gasket.

Whoa! What O-rings were these? The ones that go on the pipes to the rad? That sounds crazy that a little vasoline on the 0-rings could result in a blown head gasket. I wonder if something else was wrong too?
