I have been busy in the garage the past few weeks putting my 08 Ruckus together. I have been accumulating parts for the past year (before I got my Ruck even) and did it all in one blast.
I got a lot of carbon parts from Password JDM, including the front and rear fenders, luggage tray, gas tank cover, radator cover and battery box. I installed a Yoshimura carbon exhaust, Kijima coolent tank (needed to clear exhaust) and an NCY frame brace with footpegs. I shaved the turn signals and mounted Kijima turn signals flush in the battery box. I guess I love carbon.
I replaced with stock wheels and tires with alloy fake Dio wheels from ebay shod with Michelen Bopper tires. I got rid of the drum brake and damperless fork with a carbon slider, disc brake unit from NCY. I also added an NCY oil cooler so I can run a lower oil level and really thin synthetic oil to reduce viscous and windage drag. I use a polini variator and a KN Kikaku shock replaces the horrible stock shock. I also shaved the ugly tailight assembly and use a Zoomania LED tailight and turn signal assembly mounted under the seat. An NCY seat frame lowers the seat.
A Kijima big wave headlight is twice as bright as stock and cleans up the front end. You can see billet folding NCY levers and MC cover. The horn has been relocated inside the battery box. All control cables are braided steel
The handlebars are Easton nano carbon fiber, Daytona mirrors, Scott grips, Easton Vice stem from a Mountain bike. The stock speedo has been flush mounted in the battery box with a custom binical so it sits flat and has more room for the cable to have a straight shot. An Acewell gauge has a Tach, tripmeter, fuel gauge, elapsed time, stopwatch and a super accurate calibrateable speedo.
The Easton stem with a Password JDM adaptor kit that allows the use of Mountain bike or BMX stems on the Ruckus head tube.
A Daytona oil tem gauge/dipstick with more carbon goodness.
The carbon fender brace for the Password JDM type II carbon rear fender was made from scrap carbon from my time attack car's wing endplate. Did I mention that I love carbon fiber?! I used a lot of Password JDM's alloy fender bolts all over the bike. I used a Zoomania rear reflector here as well to get rid of the huge ugly stock one.
A Kehin PC20 carb made a huge difference in power. A K&N air intake filters out the dirt, a Kitaco kick start is angled that way so it actualy works. The wire harnesses are wrapped and tucked out of the way. The PAR and PCV systems were removed and replaced with a K&N breather. I also added NCY frame sliders. A Posh CDI, JC racing light flywheel, battlescooter C4U clutch springs and Posh coil are in there someplace.
The performance has been amazingly improved. Stock the top speed was a pathetic 37-38 mph. Now the Ruckus can top 50-52 mph if it is given enough space. It can hit 48 mph consistantly and relaibly.
My next mods should really wake the engine up, I am going to port the head, add a Battlescooter camshaft and a Chanito big bore kit .
Hope you guys find my bike interesting.
