OK i succeded at my first oil change with almost no mess. Torqued in correctly and no leaks. over filled it first so had to drain some out . But I read some where on here that you can increase performance a little bit my not filling the oil so high. i tried to search for the thread but I was unable to find it. I filled it to the half way mark, is this ok or should it i fill it to the top.

I always fill mine up about halfway or a little more and it always seems to work just fine! Also- I can't see how underfilling it would give you better performance, but I do know that OVER filling it will bog the engine down. I believe that the Owner's Manual says to get it right in the middle.

Im confused. I just got my Ruckus a few weeks ago and I've put about 250 miles on it. When should I change the oil, 200 or 600 miles. Ive seen somewhere in a post as little as 50 miles. Also the dealer said to bring the Ruckus back for a check up at 600 miles. Im assuming if I do not bring it back, then my 1 year warranty becomes void right?

I've changed my oil every 600 miles, and haven't had any problems other than a faulty coil, aside from things that wear down with time (belt, rollers, spark plugs). As long as you change your oil, it shouldn't void your warranty.

the shop by me told me the same thing (to bring it in at 600 mile) but ask first, when i brought my 09 in they said it was going to cost me 100 bucks for just a tune up.. i decided to just tune it my self, tightened my brakes, throttle, oil change, coolant change. it shouldnt effect your warrenty too.

I did my first oil change the other day and put in a little over half a quart of oil. Should I have more in it? The damn manual doesnt say how much. And I didnt want to fill till it poured out.

I, and most others, go with every 600 miles. Maybe 1000 if you think that's excessive. But I definately wouldn't go 2500 miles without an oil change.

do the first oil change early....as soon as you can to get those little bits of metal out from the manufacturing process. After that, change it every 600-1000 miles. 2500 miles is way too long because these scoots rev way higher than cars.

I have a dumb question, but it need answering. So I changed my oil using Mobile 1 10W 30 .6L by draining the plug and refilling. Now I see that I am supposed to clean the screen and clean that area out too. So was I supposed to drain both plugs and then put in .7 L of oil total? They use the same oil correct? Do I have to do this every oil change? Also is mxing mobile 1 10W30 and mobile 1 10W 40 high mileage going to hurt?

You're supposed to do it every 2nd or 3rd oil change. In my experience, it's always clean. You should put in about 0.6 litres.....0.7 litres is only if you rebuild the entire engine and get the old oil out of all the nooks and crannies. The 0.6 litres is just a guideline. You should be going by the hashmarks on the dipstick to ensure your oil level is correct. I normally add about 0.5 litres and then slowly add more until it's almost at the top of the hashmarks. Mixing these Mobil's is ok but it will perform closer to the 10w30.

I change at 600 miles a coupla' times with regular Petroleum base oil. I then switch em' to Semi-Synthetic, and go 1000 miles between changes...... ;D
